Flooded engine

Currently sitting on pins and needles waiting for the call from the Mechanic. We pulled my wifes 2005 RX8 out of storage early so she could drive it to Texas on the March break to see her sister. It would not start. We tried 2 or three times but nothing. We turned on the heat in the garage and let it sit for a few hours. Tried twice more nothing. Called the person who stored it and although they put "Staybill" in the gas, they did not run the engine for 15 minutes. Just dumped it in the gas tank. I had the car towed to an RX8 mechanic. He called me this morning and said my the engine is badly flooded, starter is weak, the 4 plugs need to be replaced. My dilema was: Although the Mechanic has not yet been able to spark the engine up, he did a compression test (non-running) test and he said the comp is 'low". He figures the seals are damaged as well. He said if the seals are damaged the engine is pooched. My question is, could I have really done all that damage just from flooding the engine? The whole engine needs to be replaced? Wow.

Flooding the engine once is not going to ruin your engine. If the seals are bad, they would have gone bad from something else. Unfortunately you don't have the car, but if you did, I would recommend checking the battery. If it is good, continue on to do the deflood, if not, replace the battery and then do a deflood.

your mechanics are throwing parts at problems and doing unnecessary things.

good battery
deflood
good fuel
maybe change plugs (depending on how long the car was flooded, the plugs could really be fouled)

start.
