fix a flat
 

ok so awhile back i was at work n my boss came to me and told me that my tire was flat. i was are you serious. soi didnt believe him but it was true it was flat. Well i looked around for nails or any puncture wounds i didnt see anything. i didnt have a air compressor. well around the time he had told me it was time for me to go home anyways. so not thinking smartly my boss said why dont you use fix a flat so i walked to the big lots next door and got a can, use it then drove to the closest tire shop it see if they could figure out why i lost air i told them what happened they refused to look at it because of the fix a flat. so i know i had new tire that just arrived at my house. got home and brought 1 new tire to the local shop next to my house now. they changed the tire for me and sprayed down the fix a flat out of it. i told them i would like to keep my tire because i had 80% thread left. Anyways the fiix a flat is cleaned out of the tire but it is still sticky inside. Is their anyway to remove the stickiness from the tire?

P.S. i know im gonna get bashed for this lol

figure out where the hole is before even bothering. if the hole is on the edge near the sidewall just recycle the tire and cut your loss.

as far as a cleaner i don't know. acetone would work but it will also absorb into the rubber. brake cleaner would work better than acetone on rubber but you'd go through several cans.

fix a flat is basically only to be used if you plan on tossing the tire, for future reference. it's an emergency repair.

did you ever figure out what happened to the tire. you can probably just soap and water to try to get the fix a flat out. have you tried anything yet to do it or are you just looking to see what other people have done in the past? you should realy make sure there to try to find something wrong with the tire because it obviously went flat for a reason and if the reason isnt something having to do with the tire than you need to look elsewhere to make sure that the new tire doenst go bad also. i have run into problems in the past with tpms valves leaking on various cars for various reasons. but anyway back to the point. if you use an industrial strength cleaner like purple power or something like that you should be able to get out the rest of the stickyness. but befor you do that run a rag around the inside of the tire to check for anything poking through. dont use your bare hand because if there is something there it might cut your hand. i have pulled some pretty crazy things out of tires before like razor blades and stuff like that.

Not to mention for the sake of those trying to read your post, try to use some punctuation. Not trying to be rude. I know it seams trivial and its just a forum post but a little bit of courtesy goes a long way.

Breaking things up a little bit also make things easier to read. Believe it or not the amount of effort you put into posts directly reflects the amount of effort people put into responses.
