Testing The 8 (w/ new pics)

I got my 04 velocity red 6 speed RX-8 last week and tonight was really the first time I had really tested this car out. I had a pretty badass 98 Trans AM with a supercharged LS2 in it so I figured I had already been spoiled as much as any car enthusiast would be. However tonight, I definitely experienced a very new type of fun. Of course it didn't have the acceleration as my Trans AM did, but it was quicker than I had first anticipated. But the real fun was taking turns at speeds that would have rolled the Trans AM no doubt. The stock suspension is pretty sturdy, acceleration once it hit about 6.5-7k rpm's was decent, I think this will be a very fun car to work with

Haha, I won't take it off, I'm still pretty pansy when it comes to cornering just from driving my old car so much.

Yeah, I stopped looking at numbers years ago. It's all about the feel of the car. Of course I feel speeding tickets in my future. I'll rest my foot on the accelerator thinking im going like 65mph and I look and the speedo says I'm going 95mph

Judging by your last ride, I give it a month or two before you will be itching to go FI.

Won't be too long. I want to get to know the car NA before I think about a turbo.

Unless your name is Cletus and are married to your father's daughter, one will never be spoiled by a Trans Am. Yeesh! Glad you saw the light.

Gratz on the car! There's nothing like driving a car that feels like an extension of your own body. Powerful cars are a dime a dozen, this one is special.

well I have my camera with me on my trip so I took some pictures, here are some pics of my new ride

the outside is a little dirty, it's needs a washing
and for some reason the check engine light is on, had it run at an autozone, but got some 'operator error, could not be read' crap even though it was plugged in properly
either way, when my dad handed me the keys, he had told me it was something about the gas cap and not to worry about it

Nice. What nav system is that? Do you have it mounted there? I've been considering getting one myself, but I can't figure out where to put one.

If the check engine light is on because of the gas cap, tighten down the cap. Not sure if that alone will make the light go off...anyone? But I would make sure that that's the problem if it were me.

The nav system is a Mio. I love the thing, conveniently placed and doesn't obstruct my view any. As far as the gas cap goes, I turn it over till I hear 3 clicks...do I need to turn it any more?

Theoretically, it's as tight as it's gonna get after 1 click. You don't need more clicks, you need a new gas cap...

Yup, I had a '94 Camaro before my 8, but now I'm spoiled being able to actually go around turns without dying.
