FIrst Road Trip was a dream
Well After having my 8 for just 5 days, I took it on it's first road trip. I do have to say the car does ride really smooth on the interstate.. But I really did have to watch it though.... the slightest increase in gas petal presssure seemed to jump the speed at least 8 miles per hour. Not good on the cop infested portions of I-10. But running on cruise control solved that issue.
Since I did spot so many cops along the way and also some steady traffic on the other parts, I couldn't really open her up. But maybe I will be able to on the next trip. Anyway back to the like a dream part.... over the 1000 Miles, the seat design made the ride extremely comfortable. In my old Civic I would have to stop just to stretch out my legs. I was also really impressed with the engine noise, or there lack of. Or maybe the 8 speaker Bose system just drowned it out:) All in all, I give two thumbs up to the Rx8 for long trips. I even averaged nearly 22 mpg and I'm just breaking it in. |
I took a 700 mile road trip the day after I got mine. Good times. I love this car

Not good on the cop infested portions of I-10. I was the only one on that stretch and they hadn't cut the notches in the wooded area down the middle yet for cops to hide in . Plus I was 19 and foolish. Man I miss those road trips to Daytona. |
I did my first road trip this weekend -- a couple of hundred miles through rain-dampened roads in western Maryland. The wet conditions made the neutral handling of the 8 shine through. Best of all, after five hours behind the wheel, I had no aches and pains.
Wish I had somewhere to go 140 . . . |
You do... It's called the Capitol Beltway :)
