First launch, am I bad at it or is my motor losing power?
I finally got around to machining a phone mount on my CNC router. I typically don't bash on my cars unnecessarily and, until now, have had no reason to launch my 8. I prefer the twisties...would have bought another car for straight lines.
But, now that I can capture video easily, I figured I would shoot a few videos to share with you experts to help me understand if my motor seems normal, or if it is beginning to lose compression. I've only driven my personal 8 so I don't have a reference point as to what a fresh motor feels like. It looks like 0-60 came in at around 7.5, which i know is slower than some, but then again it could just be because I suck. Let me know what you think. It's an 07 MT sport with 65k miles, completely stock except I just swapped the tires out for Eagle F1 Assymetric A/S 245/40's. Ambient temperature was 72* F, and the roads were dry. First launch (ever in this car haha): A 40-100ish run. I let off for a second at ~90 going around a turn: ALL OF THIS WAS PERFORMED ON A CLOSED COURSE |
More revs at launch and slip the clutch slightly,no need to dump the clutch, it is too hard on components.

Seems ok to me, just from what you can see in the video.
