First car blue rx8

My first car I bought , I was supper excited. Took me two days to learn about a shift but I do believe I have it down . I got a 6 speed 04 with black interior. I love it I filled it up for the first time today and it was 12 more than what my smart car was to fill. But let's see how this goes any info for a newbie to the car:)

I hope you didn't buy the car thinking it's going to get the same gas milage as the smart car

Welcome to the club. Give us a bit more info on the car you purchased. How many miles does it have? Does it have original or remanufactured engine? Do you have a maintenance record? Do you know when was the last tune up done? Post some pictures as well:)

Spend some time on this forum and learn about the car. Start from here: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discuss...t-here-202454/

I've had a 04 MT GT WB Rx-8 for 8 years now. I have 31k miles on it. The engine lost compression last year and it has a new engine for the past year (has about 1500 miles on it).
I still love it. I want to trade it in, for say a new 911, R8, NSX, but it is worth more to me than the trade in value.
Figure, I'll be giving to my child when she grows up.

<that kind of info>

Yea the car was basically a steal gt , already tinted had a engine replace so it has 21k a new clutch and tires . I had to clean all the blonde hair out of the center console and brown crusty stuff. Next I want to try taking black due to the carpet and shoe polish to the leather. And no lol I was not expecting same mileage as a smart.

car looks great! and +1 on the interior cleaning, i think the previous owner of mine was a soda spilling dog, i'd post pics, but its gross

Beautiful car... Also, when you finish the other reading, the $100 thread in my signature might be useful for an 04. Lots of little things that are easy to fix. They helped mine a lot.

Have fun all 4 of my kids will be driving rotaries as their first car and they know this . One it will teach them a lot how to be prepared for life it has it ups and downs but when is good is so worth it

flipdiz 01-09-2013 05:55 PM

yea mine might have been a sister to that dog.. whats the best way to glean and clear up rx8 head lights

Chino_rx3 01-10-2013 06:25 AM

best way sand them and clear them , but a easy fix just buff out with some wax and a microfiber cloth you may have to to the buff every other month or so.

/\
This.

I usually simply wax them when I when I wax the car - which is usually once a month.

The difference is that I scrub the wax on the headlights until it comes off, without allowing it dry off as you would do when you wax the car.

So far that's the one method that has kept my headlights looking like new.

Chino_rx3 01-11-2013 02:25 PM

^^^^ good call good call don't let it sit polished them like a buff

I have an 04 RX8 as well, it was my first standard car. I have now had it for almost 3 yrs....I'm in love with my 8 I will always own one but be prepared!!...The 04 is the WORST yr you could get. Not sure how much knowledge you have on RX8s or the rotary motor itself but do PLENTY of research. I've had so many problems with mine.....I've put in about 10gs in my car just this yr! last yr my car was out of commission longer than actually out on the road, matter of fact my car is still being worked on =/ ...my 8 is now on its 3rd motor!!!.......but anyways long story short, if you seriously want an 8 I highly recommend you start getting dedicated to this car and have the money to follow, otherwise don't waste your time.
