Well I purchased my RX-8 almost a year ago. Fist one on my block with one. I had all kinds of people pointing and talking about it. Over the weekend I drive down the street about 8 houses down and see a brand new tit RX-8. with Browning plates. I guess my neighbor liked my yellow one so much he bought himself 1. I am going to leave a rx8club note on his windshield. hopefully we will see him online soon.

Unfortunately more and more are showing up........

I kinda agree... as happy as I am to know they're selling well, I don't really enjoy seeing them on the road. I still wave and smile, even though I've only received ONE return wave from an 8. Those unfortunate non-wavers are probably the owners that think they have a V6.

I understand where you both are coming from but I have to say that I am happy for everyone who gets the enjoyment of owning an RX-8. I love my car and I know that there are a lot of people out there that really like the asthetics and are impressed with the powerplant. I would never deny them the opportunity of enjoying what I love about my car and I want this car to make it through at least a few production years. So I say buy on America! :D

Me too. First on my block (maybe my city) almost a year ago (August 03 delivery). Now you can drive down my long street and see three 8s. It's still very rare to meet another 8 on the road though.

Maybe I'm blinded by my love for my 8, but I can easily see the 8 becoming every bit as common as mustangs. The entry price point is fantastic for what you get, and the top end price point is also a great deal for what you get. I think Mazda could sell even more if they offered a striped down manual at a price lower than the AT. I should think they could offer one with a msrp in the low 23k range. Maybe they're waiting for the 8 to gain a great rep, before they offer a lower performance model.

I think we need to hope to see lots of our neighbors with 8s. It is our best chance of seeing Mazda support for the rotary continue. Wouldn't it be cool to see hipo MS 8s from the factory along with new 7's and some sort of open air vehicle.
Not to mention, if the rotary disappears from these shores again due to poor sales, don't expect to see it come back. Also, you should see the hoops I have to jump through to get the FD serviced. I have to take it over an hour away (and I am lucky--thats closer than most owners) while there is a dealership around the corner. We should really hope for continued factory and dealership support for our cars, because if they stop selling them it will get tough to get competent service within a few years. For now, I will admit it is very cool to drive around an interesting car that I don't see very often.

eitherway... rx8's are still "rare..." I see g35coupes a LOT... and 350z's a LOT as well. Those cars are much more common... so i still love the ... oh.. there's one of those once in awhile... looks?

s2000's are still very rare though. That would've been my 1st choice provided they weren't so "weekend fun car" ish...

I see on average 4 or more S2000's a day in Vancouver... its kinda scary, hehe

Yeah I bought mine, Blue, at Capital Mazda in Cary NC back in July 03. (Just outside of Raleigh).

I moved to Chespeake and didn't see any until about 2 weeks ago. Guy drives a Green one, it's beautiful, almost wish I had held out for the green.... Anyway, I drive to and from work with this guy every day, I always wave and he always ignores me... :mad:

Then I saw a silver one at the 7-eleven yesterday and a red one joined us otw to work this morning.. He didn't wave either... :confused: Maybe I will see him otw home and he will wave.

PS. - I guess I wave more then other people, perhaps it's because my main ride is a GSX-R750. :D

Some guy has my exact same car at the place next door to my work. He had it first, though, so I guess I'm the copycat. :)

Damn...where I live I haven't seen any other RX8's(except for meets) while drivng my RX8...I have seen 3 RX8's when I was in the rental(while my 8 was getting a new diff)....weird. I've had my car since November....

I think it's more common here in the West Coast.. So Cali to be exact. I mean, most of the cars here are either economical.. or flashy. Majority of the sales of BMW in the US are sold here in So Cali. I would put money that RX-8s are sold more here in California than any other state simply because of the weather, and the type of lifestyle we're accustom to.

In Newport Beach/Laguna area, you see Ferraris, Porsches, SL600+ Benz, etc... and it just seems like another car on the road. I doubt people in other states have the luxury of having the California weather for their cars to drive all the time, nor the choice of all these fancy schmancy cars to drive with. When I read that people had to special order RX-8s.. I was like what? There are like 50 at the local Mazda dealership here... Oh wells.

Yes, if you buy a car that is short lived, the price for parts goes up fast. Been there, done that, I don't think the 8 will suffer that fate.

Yeah, I've seen quite a few lately...I've had mine since July of last year...wow, it's almost been a year.... Oh well, can't be the new kid on the block forever. I just hope it doesn't become as common-place as the Camaro I used to have...then I'd be angry hehe.
