Finally got my car

There's a million threads like this, but I guess there's a reason for it. Joined here months ago, been reading up and down on problems, good things, etc. I only owned a MX-5 before, and after knowing so much about the 8 I was ready to not be overly excited by driving it when I went to pick it up this week, ordered it a few months ago as an import from the US so it takes some time.

I were really surprised though, what a fantastic car! Way over my expectations, I love the smoothness and the attention to detail in the interior and everything. And it looks AWESOME, so much better than pictures. It's a Winning Blue GT with appearance package and wing. The car was also extremely well kept, it seriously looks like new and it's a 04, couldn't find anything wrong in the paintwork. Only driven like 12000 miles now though. So it's been a summer/garage car in the US.

The engine definiately feels to be up for everything, I'm having a bigger checkup and changing engine and gearbox oil next week. Will probably change diff oil myself soon too. But the gearbox seems to be similar to my MX-5 which got more sensitive to "lazy" clutching after a while, I think changing fluids fixed that. As when I'm not driving aggressively I tend to not be as quick letting the clutch out and stepping on the gas and I notice that the shifter seems more notchy when I do everything slower and not that precise :P Seemed to be fluids on the 5, so I'm hoping it's not a gearbox on the 8 :P

Just looking forward to my next drive, the sound when approaching redline is awesome :)

Welcome to the club. We understand your excitement. I've had mine for 3 1/2 years and love it as much as the day I took it home.

Thanks guys.

I already find myself looking for excuses to take a drive :D

Reading about the 8 and driving the 8 are completely different experiences. It wouldn't be called "Rotary Experience 8" if it drove like any other type of vehicle.

And pics never do the 8 justice. It's so much better looking in person.

Congrats and welcome to the club. Lets see some pics!

Congrats! Norway ehh? Couldn't have been too cheap to import it. Is it pretty tough trying to find one over there?

Surely wasn't cheap, ended up around 68,000 dollars all included :) There's probably max 125 of them in this country, and most of them are red, silver, grey or black. I really wanted a sunroof and I wanted the blue one, so when I saw this one I had to have it. Took my dad for a drive a few days ago, he's mostly into american classic cars and such, and drives a German wagon now. He walked out of the car to withdraw money, and when he came back, he was standing like 3 meters from the car for half a minute, then he came back into the car and said, damn this is a nice car you got. Haha, had to laugh :P

Some pics taken today, not good weather and not that good pics, but still. I also made some wallpapers for myself of the pics ;)

Car looks fantastic! I'm a northener around the globe from you in Southeast Alaska. This is such a superb machine, you are going to love it! I wanted mine for so long and now I've had it for only 10 days, I don't think it has really settled in yet! Hey, this is crazy, but how the hell do you get pictures up on the site like you did? I can't figure it out! cheers

Thanks :) I'm loving the car, and it seems to be in prime condition, have the original owner to thank for that. But I'm definitely going to baby it :)
