Farewell

Just traded the 8 in on a 2012 Challenger. The 8 was a great car for the year I had it, just felt like I needed to get back to my muscle car roots. From 50k-91k miles I had very few problems with it.
The 8 is a true sports car, and I will never forget it. I can only hope the folks over at challenger talk are half as helpful as you all have been. Take care. |
i see we have gotten into land yachting. haha
my heart longs for a muscle car as well. i want some torque. good luck with the new ride |
Looks awesome...
I've been thinking about getting one myself. The old man has a 300 SRT8, I luv it for what it is. |

I had a black R/T as a rental once when I was in San Francisco ....
I was a badass looking mofo in it ... if I do say so myself. I fell in luv. |

Is it an automatic?
I bet it's an autotragic, It is, isn't it? |
Actually, no. It's a six speed.
Getting an automatic transmission on a muscle car is just blasphemy. |
I like the way you think ^
I have never understood the appeal of muscle cars. Good luck with the new ride though! |
Good for you!
I can't stand muscle cars with an auto (I'm lookin at YOU, corvette!) it's an abomination! Good luck with your new ride. |
wish i had a muscle sometimes...blows not having torque. enjoy your new whip man

Anyway, I got to play with the car at a race track on straight line on a sunday morning (quarter mile). I have to admit that with that much hp and going on a straight line I didn't mind the auto tranny. I was sunken into the seat the whole time like crazy and that thing was shifting through gears so smoothly i couldn't believe it. Not sure I would enjoy a muscle car with an auto tranny for everyday driving or for driving on twisty roads though. but for a straight line high hp fun....an auto was enough for me!!! |

Challenger R/T is a bad ass ride.
The fact you opted for the manual transmission is double plus good. I haven't found a car that I'm yet willing to trade for my 8 (after a long search - 2+ years), but the Charger R/T Hemi (2012 model) that I drove had GOBS of torque and a vastly improved interior vs the last gen. And yes, I have notice incredible price creep on the upper range muscle cars. They're literally entering luxury car territory. Either the economy is going to take a giant shit (which I bet it does) and dealers are going to have to deal, or they'll have to cut way back on production (which I think they've make contingency plans on doing). I have a hard time wrapping my head around the prices for loaded out upper range Mustangs, Challengers & Camaros that are price liked Lexus LS430s of 5 years ago. But I digress. Nice choice on the new ride and I wish you the best. p.s. - Chrysler is really firing on all cylinders lately (Grand Cherokee, revised 300C, Challenger & Charger, the new Dart, which will be available with a manual on all spec'd models and with a turbo unit, too). |
It does seem like these so called "affordable" sports cars/coupes have gotten out of the reach of most in a hurry. Damn near all of them now top out around 40k if not more. Even some of the more basic trims are now starting around 28-30k which is still out of range for most people.
