EVO or RX8rs

ok i have a scion tc ya i know its kinda slow but i need it for the long drives but its better than a civic so back to the topic im think of getting a RX8 or evors both i really like both in white both MT even tho the evo comes in MT so if you guys had a choice between those 2 what would you guys pick???? thanks

sti_eric 04-16-2006 02:15 PM

Let's see...you're on an RX-8 forum so I'm going to take a wild guess that most of the people here would say RX-8. What does it matter what other people would pick, anyway? Take them for a test drive and decide for yourself.

BunnyGirl 04-16-2006 02:19 PM

Depends. Do you want a high-quality interior with a lot of features or a relatively bare bones interior but a lot of power under the hood. At least that's how a friend of mine describes them. He sold Evos until recently when he got a different job.

NgoRX8 04-16-2006 02:20 PM

Yea, sorry. I'm already biased.

Ike 04-16-2006 02:20 PM

Brilliant! I'm off to ask if I should trade in my Evo for an RX-8 on the Evo forums. I wonder what they'll say...

HolyCross05 04-16-2006 02:25 PM

Use sentences.

If you want sleek and sassy, get the 8.. If you want fast and UGLY, get the Evo..

Not quite -- one handed typer. Nuff said.

yiksing 04-16-2006 10:38 PM

Get the EVO

kraji 04-16-2006 11:09 PM

im actually thinking of trading my car into evo.
my friend has one and its insane! HAHA

Revolver 04-17-2006 02:33 AM

I'm ignoring the cock banter... :Eyecrazy: :mdrmed:

The Evo is certainly faster but it's a bit manic for a daily driver. You'll find the 8 more practical for regular use and still quick on both road and track in it's own right.

Of course there's then the looks. The Evo's HAVE improved in this department (okay, only slightly) but if it was a woman you'd still say she's got great personality. :bootyshak

takahashi 04-17-2006 03:10 AM

It is the difference between your car attracting a woman or a guy... :dunno:

I love the EVO in every sense... just the fact that it is such a boy racer that I cannot be bothered being asked for a race at every stop light.

It is a brillant car, but I just cannot justify the image problem associated with it and the cost to maintain it... image chewing out a set of front brake and front slicks every track day and rotor every 4 track days... :(

9291150 04-17-2006 05:32 AM

Still weird to me how people would consider two such completely different cars. I’ve never seen a comparison test between an Evo and an 8, don’t think I ever will or need to. I betcha most 8 owners wouldn't consider an Evo, and most Evo owners wouldn't consider an 8, though with everything there are exceptions.

More comparable cars to the 8? G35 coupe, 330i coupe, maybe the new Mustang GT.

takahashi 04-17-2006 05:36 AM

It is hard to compare but it does not stop people doing so.

People compare Caymans with 911s - you can say they are very different cars too :)

Well, that's probably because you're an idiot. I mean, seriously, you can't understand why people would cross-shop two 4-door, 4-passenger sports cars that are in the same price range? It's not like cross-shopping a Ferrari F430 and a Kia Rio. It's all about trade-offs. If you prefer to drive a performance car that is very fast, extremely fun to drive, and actually has 'performance', then you get the Evo. If you're like 9291150 and get your jollies by coming onto the internet and telling everyone how pretty and cute your car is, you get an RX-8.

So, if Car and Driver doesn't do a comparo, then you can't cross-shop them? Talk about a magazine racer. Jeez. If they told you jumping off a bridge was fun, would you go do it (please tell me yes). Learn to think for yourself.
They reason they haven't done a comparo is because it would be a huge waste of time since they already know the outcome would be hugely in favor of the Evo. :stickpoke

FABRO 04-17-2006 06:13 AM

I was debating over an evo or rx8, and in the end my decision was the 8 since it was cheaper for me to insure and buy. I still love the EVO though (in my opinon looks good exterior wise, easy to mod and quick) but I just wanted the extra funds to have some play money such as modding my car.
