Engine won't start. Need help/advice please!!

Hey everyone,

Am pretty new to this forum, and i'm just a regular college student that owns a 2004 RX8. I'll admit i'm a huge n00b and I don't know much about how cars work. I am learning though, so any help is greatly appreciated because you gotta start somewhere right?

So, my Rx8 won't start. The battery works just fine, and i've even tried several times to jump start. I haven't driven it for 3 weeks now, and I really don't feel like getting it towed. I feel like the problem is very easy to fix since the car has been running well since 2004 when I bought it. My guess is that the spark plugs are not working and need replacement cuz when I crank the engine I can't hear that sound right after the battery gives a jump and the engine starts. Also I kept on trying to crank it repeatedly, and I doubt it's the starter - I could also smell some gas, so I know the gas is being channeled well to the engine. I've never changed my spark plugs before, and I've read some threads on how to do it. So what do you guys think. My RX8 has about 54K miles on it, and everything is stock. Also 6speed

One more thing, I've heard that it's really bad if you don't run your engine on a regular basis. I haven't turned on my engine for the past three weeks and I fear the engine may be decompressed

ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I LIVE IN ATLANTA, GA, so if anyone around the area can assist me personally (perhaps meet up) that would be great too. Feel free to send me a private msg.

Thanks

Search for Deflooding, it sounds flooded. Make sure your battery is charged and follow the instructions in the owners manual.

Can you push start it and pop the clutch?

Ok, will look it up now.
I haven't tried to push start because it's parked in an awkward position. I also forgot to mention that when I turn on the key, I get the steering wheel light thingy on the dashboard, and it stays there. The only time I moved it (which by the way, was a complete pain and the steering wheel was locked) was when I tried to jump start it with another car. I just pushed the car about 7 feet.

It is a manual transmission right? I would say take the battery and get it charged before you do anything else. A jump is not advised. The deflooding will seem like it is never going to work and then all of teh sudden the car will start.

There are different deflooding methods though and all of them have been discussed in detail.
