When I rev the engine, as it comes down off the rev it make a poping sound. Is this normal? I noticed it while driving so when I pulled into the driveway I revved a few times and heard the same sound. After a few more revs it stopped. Any ideas? Is this normal?

 

Thats normal dont worry. The early rotary would really back fire!

 

I really hear mine now that I have the Bosal exhaust.

Seriously though, yes, rotaries have an inherent tendency to pop or backfire.

Long ago, my old silver first gen RX7, desmogged and with RB header and exhaust would blow a pretty good flame after letting off the throttle for a bit, then getting back on.
