Engine sluggish
Hi guys,
I have a 2006 Rx8, with approximately 14000 miles driven on it. This past weekend I drove it for the first time on a long distance trip (from LA to Las Vegas). During the drive (on the way to Vegas), I noticed that the engine started feeling very sluggish - cars would easily pass me by. The car didn't feel this way at the start of the trip. This was about half way (160 miles out of the 260 miles for the entire distance on the way to Las Vegas). I noticed that this also occured right when the elevation was 4000 feet. Should I get the car checked out? Thanks/. |

^What he said, You def need to redline everyday IMO. Another contributing factor can be your ignition coils/sparkplugs. What exactly do you mean when you say "sluggish" because there are quite a few ways to describe that term?

"Should you get it checked out"? I hope that's a rhetorical question.
Problems never go away they get worst. As stated above give us a little history on your ride, CELs, Flashes, etc. etc. People here can help narrow the problem down. In the end you should bring the car to the dealer if it is found to be a major problem |
CAT dying or Engine going Kaaaabooooom.

^ ... but he's only got 14k miles on it! Then again, he may be related to "I ain't got no good Rex karma" nycgps. ;)

i had quite a "slugish" rx8 awhile ago it felt like it wouldnt pull either and was bogging a bit, i checked my engine fluids ect... and it was the coils and plugs, after i changed them i got my power back and feels much smoother. so maybe check ur coils and plugs?

He did say he was at 4000 elevation....what elevation are you at normally?
|
^ Irrelevant. Electronically metered fuel systems compensate for altitude (less dense air). It's not like the ol' carbureted days.
I lean to 'plugs/coils as well. |
I say check you coils ans plugs. Also run a can of BG44K fuel system cleaner. And then search about Premix.
