Engine replacement experiences

I found some members here who had engine replacement even 4 times.
All I found are they have 2004 models and live in hot area.

The reason I am asking this is I am going to be 2006 rx8 owner.
Because It will be used as my daily car, and I am a college student,
I don't want to get any big trouble with the car.

I had G35 and I guess I kept it well so I am sure I will also maintain rx8 well.
But if the engine has an initial problem, maintanence can't help with it.
So I want to know how many 8 owners experienced engine replacement,
and what year model they have.

Anyone experienced engine replacement, what was the year of your 8?

Sorry for posting similar topic, but slightly different.
If many owners cooperate with me, this thread can help to understand about the engine.
For newbies like me, it will help a lot.

Do the preventive/ongoing maintenance I'm sure you've read here and you'll be fine with your '08. Of course make sure the pertinent TSB/MSP's have been done, e.g. MSP16 that increased the oil injection rate.

And if worse comes to worst, you're fully covered by the 8y/100k drivetrain warranty, which for an '08 is a pretty distant time from now.

Although having an engine replaced is a bit of a nuisance, you effectively start over with a new car - what's not to like? ;)

My '05 with 25k on it now is as strong as ever (actually stronger given BHR ignition and CobbAP-MM tune).

ermh ... huey .. I think he is talking about a 06 ...

Anyway, dont overact. people are like crying babies here. and dont forget, ppl cry only when there is a problem. There should be able 40K Rx-8 in the states. how many people are crying ?

Don't worry, enjoy your ride, change the oil every 3-4K miles with a quality oil(I prefer Synthetic, REAL Synthetic, but thats just me) at least 5/10w30. you will be fine.

It's still a long way off for an '06 and a college student. He will have graduated by the time the 8 years is up, and will be gainfully employed.

Reverse - follow the maintenance schedule. Use conventional oil, and get it changed at a shop that will always give you a receipt with the date and mileage. If there's a convenient Mazda dealer, go there so you have a relationship with them.

Sign up in the owner's section at Mazdausa.com. Odds are your dealer will have coupons posted there. Mine does, and I this morning I just got an oil change for $15...which is less than it would cost to buy the oil and filter.
