Engine lack of power recall a bad idea?

Spoke to my local dealer and this recall hadn't been done on my car which i just purchased. The service rep mentioned they had a customer who just had the recall done and was experiencing problems with flooding.

I don't have any issues and am just wondering whether or not others have experienced issues with this recall.

All of the recall notices issued by Mazda were a good idea. I'm going on 8 yrs of owning this car. Thanks to this site, I knew about the recalls before you normally would and I got them promptly. Most of the early recalls were emissions or drive ability related (when they took it too far for emissions). In these 8 yrs, I've only flooded the car once. Using Mazda's de-flood procedure allowed me to start the car without having it towed to the dealer.

Great, thanks! I figured having the recall done is a good idea...however the service rep just had me scared based on a customer that had the recall and wanted them to revert whatever they did...

I just bought the car with 38k and I'm going to replace the spark plugs and wires. Dealer quoted me $160 in parts and 1 hour of labor, sound about right?

That is very cheap for plugs and wires! How much are they charging you for labor? What Mazda dealership is that anyway? Just curious...

They quoted me $160 in parts and $90/hr in labor. Its Cooley Mazda in East Greenbush, NY. I bought my Speed6 from them and they've always seemed pretty fair on pricing and very knowledgable.

Yes, that is a good price on that. YOu could do it yourself and save that 90 bucks. but if you already have a relationship with these guys, then it might be worth just paying then to do it.

That's what i've been doing with my local dealer. Trying to "cultivate" a relationship with them, so that if something big happens - like needing a new engine - they will be more inspired to help, haha.

Enjoy the ride!!

They even offered to install my ignition coils that I bought from Advanced Auto parts for $100. An extra half hour of labor but it saves me the hassle and aggravation of doing it myself!

That ... not sure . Cuz it takes 15 mintues tops to install it ... i have fast hands so ...
