Engine Fan continued to run after engine was turned off

Ok, so the wierdest thing happened today. I pulled into a parking lot, turned off the ignition and locked the doors. As I'm walking away, I hear my engine fan still running. I couldn't believe it at first, so I popped the hood and sure enough, it's still running. Even after 2 or 3 minutes of killing the motor. So, I turned the engine back over, let it run idle for 3 or 4 mins to ensure I didn't flood it, and turned it back off. This time, everything turned off.

I don't recall anything in the manual about this being a feature. I thought maybe it was intentionally left on if the engine was overheated, but this was not the case. Engine temp was normal.

Anyone heard or seen of this?

You need to read your manual again - this function is documented there. If the engine is hot (it doesn't have to be overheating), the fan will continue to run after the car is turned off. There are quite a few threads that have discussed this over the past year.

So, I turned the engine back over, let it run idle for 3 or 4 mins to ensure I didn't flood it, and turned it back off.
The flooding issue can only occur when a COLD engine is turned off within a minute or so of starting. If the engine is warm, you can start and stop the engine as rapidly as possible without ANY risk of flooding. Obviously your engine was warm, so no idle time was required.

The other day I used the car(long distance-engine got warm)then pulled over in a gas station to wash it. car's still wet and the guy tells me to move it a few meters away to dry it, 'cause another car has to enter the washing area. when everything's set and I'm ready to go car won't start. took me 5 long cranks to bring her to life...
Engine was REALLY warm, that shouldn't have happened. Now, if I'm about to move it soon, I simply don't turn it off...
