Engine

for the 2005, there is a recall on the engine. Is it worth it? Does anyone else have any other information on this?

The car runs fine, it sucks on gas. However, I feel like this is a natural trait of Mazda.

Its not a recall its an extended warranty on the engine 8yr 100k. Mazda would have to do a compression test and only then if the numbers were to low then you would get a new engine. If nothing is wrong with the engine Mazda will not replace it since there is no need too.

Sucks on gas, well that's the nature of the beast man, completely normal.

As for engine recall, not a recall just FYI type thing letting you know your coverage, If you don't have any loss of power, excessive oil consumption and are checking your oil regularly, you shouldn't need it. As stated above Mazda will have to verify low compression and vacuum before they do anything.

Welcome to the club. And I say this in the nicest way possible, searching will avoid flaming big time so it's worth your time to search and read.

Hi.

First go to a Mazda dealer (either with the car or with the VIN number).

At the Service counter (politely) tell them that you have just bought the car, and would like to know the In-Service Date, and the recall history.

The in-service date is when the car was first sold at retail, and is the start of the warranty clock running.

Note that there are a good number of new RX-8's that sat at a dealer lot for up to a year before being sold... (kinda sad).

Armed with that info, you can then see what (if any) warranty remains on your car.

Also, please put your location in your profile - I'm assuming that you are somewhere in North America, but we have members worldwide. Warranties are different, as they are decided by the importer rather than the manufacturer.

[watching girls play softball] You know, in my life I thought I'd never say, "Look at the ass on that second baseman." But look at the ass on that second baseman.

Everyone is surprised that sports cars aren't fuel economic. I guess it's lack of homework, they think that it's a 1,3 litre that drives better than a 350Z but has the fuel economy of a Ford Fiesta.

Well, you have to admit, for a 1.3L engine to have worse gas mileage than a V8 is surprising if you don't know much about rotaries. Most sports cars get better mileage than an 8...but no one buys a sports car to save on gas anyway.

04RX8man 01-09-2009 08:16 PM

^grind uses something like that but it's not a movie forum so i don't care haha

Yeah seriously who cares about it if you like the car and u enjoy to drive it just drive it and fill up when empty that's all i do whether it's 100 dollars a week i spend or 20 if i'm having fun in it that's why i bought the thing!

MyZoomZoomRX8 01-10-2009 08:11 PM

So the warranty is still in effect regardless of how many people have owned the car or who the vehicle is bought from? What about is there are any mods done to the car. The mods on my are cosmetic nothing to do mechanically.
