Emission control system voluntary testing

Anyone else get a notice from Mazda asking for your '04 to participate in an emission control system test? Apparently they'll pick your '04 up, give you a new model to drive while they test your car and give you $100 measly bucks. It will take 7-10 days. Kinda sounds interesting to me.

This seemed to be happening in the Detroit area about 2 yrs ago. I don't remember if they were calling it an emissions test. But, it was the same thing. There was a request for you to lend them your car for testing for about a week. You would get a rental and paid for these tests.

I have not gotten anything but then again i never get anything from them...and what is it 4 just to see if your 8 is still passing emission testing? What if you don't have emissions what does it matter?

what happens if you are catless?

"im sorry mazda, i politely decline."

They probably just sent letters to qualifying 04 models in certain areas (I'm in Cali). They have to have at least 50k miles. It's not to test the emissions control of your specific car but for them to do the testing on your car.

And it gets you into a new car that maybe you'll decide to buy

I got one.

I have done that test before on a differant car.

Don't do it on a Rotory. They gonna keep it on the dyno for 8 hours to burn up some Emmissions parts.

Our motors can't handle being on a dyno that long.

oh well i'm nowhere near 50k miles i guess i'm out of the loop on this one

Thanks, Razz. I was going to do it so I can drive the new model but that just made it a dealbreaker.
