Yeah I had the exact same problems. Cleaning the connectors helped the first time, but only for a short time since I only used compressed air. I used electronic parts cleaner the second time and I think that fixed it, but I'm not sure because I'm at school and don't have my 8 with me. Keep me posted if you find anything out. I'm hoping I don't need to eventually replace the harness.

Sė, a search should show some threads with the right solutions.
Welding the harness usually works fine and is cheap! Cleaning may not be a long lasting solution as nopstnz said

^^Wait...What do you mean welding the harness? Do you mean replacing it?

Nope, welding the connector's wires :)

^.....well technically it's bypassing the connectors by soldering right?

Didn't want anyone to just weld/melt the connectors! :)

It doesn't always work, but like others have said. There's a million threads on this subject showing you where to clean, or how to bypass.

You're absolutely right, please forgive the lack of depth in my explanation :)

:scratchhe Ya never know.
I was prompted to do that by a thread I read last night where a really brief explanation should have sufficed, but it didn't.
