there is a sticky about it.

There are 2 kinds of memory in the ECU that the care uses to 'store' the info it learns.

To reset them both do the following.

Tap the brake 20 times as fast as you can, the oil gauge needle will sweep from the left to center and back to left (if you sucsessfully reset it)

The next is to push and hold the ODO/TRIP meter button (above and to the right of the tach) while holding it down, turn the key to ACC, you should see the ODO/TRIP gauge start displaying some crazy stuff, now push the ODO/TRIP button repetedly to go till you get to the end, turn the car off...your done...the car is now back to the same settings as when it rolled off the production line!

The point to doing this is :

When you drive the car, it tries to find the best A/F (air/fuel) ratio it can, to give you great MPG, this is not always the same mix of A/F that will give you the most power. You might notice after the reset the car 'feels' faster or 'more responsive' but you may also notice that the MPG goes down, everytime you drive the car it remebers what settings work best and saves them in the memory you clear...

resetting the ECU is just a way to 'start fresh' as the ECU and the car learn the way you drive...and adapt.

Between my second and third run on the dyno last time, reset the ecu for kicks. Increase of 6 hp at peak.

Can't seem to get the brake one to work, but I got the other one.

you pump the brake 20x within 10sec immediately after turning the key to ACC (1st click). You will see the oil gauge hand sweep back and forth to confirm.

which reset yields more power or leans more in the power gaining direction? the break or the odd trip?

i have found that these methods do not seem to reset the ltft, i always have to disconnect the negative battery cable, does anyone know why?

Good to know this, wasn't aware of it,thanks.
Cleared the ECU and turned off DSC ....tested it on the road(Mflash) and its much smoother idling and the engine is noticebly more responsive.....
