Duplicate Key
 

I just have one key to my RX8. Does anybody know if I can get that key duplicated and use it? Or do I have to go to Mazda Dealer and try to get a duplicate Key there? Man this webserver says its busy all the time!!

If you only have ONE key you will need to go to the dealer. If you had TWO keys you could program the chip (3rd key) yourself.

Dealer needs to help you out............

Thankfully I recently found out a cheaper way to get another key. Ace hardware has a system to provide a duplicate key for those with just one. It's just a simple key with a chip and works great. I paid a little over $60 for it. For those curious about the system, I found a website on the box: www.chipkey.com

look on craigslist for a key maker and ask him... or a car locksmith i got 1 for about 150

If you give that old key number to the locksmith then they can make a new spare for you.

What year is your 8? My O4 I had Mazda make two for me because I only had the valet key. My 05 has remotes my 06 I bought the remotes and blanks online. Most likely will have Mazda program them because I have recalls to do too.
