Dunlop tire blowout while on highway!
 

I was headed to the girls house today in my 06 Grey 8 with 1096 miles on it. doing 55 my right rear tires blows out and send me into a ditch. I am pissed! Anyone else have any experience of voice on my situation?

Wow, this is the third thread about someone getting a flat tire in two days. Check out these two threads. My flat was also on the dunlops, just hit 10,000 on my car, plenty of tread. I also hit something in the road though (just guessing, didnt actually see what was hit, just found it in the tire).

ouch... with only 1k on them. that sucks...

My Dunlops have 25K on them and have been just fine.

hey buddy i'm glad you're okay, ive heard of stories where people have had blown tires, and done 360's and crashed into trucks and uncoming traffic! take it to mazda and tell them what happened!

you see the result at 55mph... imagine a tire blowing at 90mph :puke:

you went into a ditch? What kind of damage to the car?

Blowouts can occur on any tire at any time. ie: If you got a nail into the tire as you were getting on that road, the heat and movement of the tire would pretty much cause it to slice the tire open and BAM!! ... instant blowout.

No TPMS light on? Faulty tire... that sucks! Hope the rest of the car is okay after the off-roading experience.

Wow.... You should definately let Mazda know of this....Actually Dunlop should find out about this as well.... a tire is not supposed to blowout at 50mph.... no even at 130mph.... They should sustain the tires top rated speed. Defenitely a head's up for the NHSA. (National Highway Safety Administration)...

PLEASE tell me you're kidding. That tire could have blown out due to a nail being in it. Unless we're ABSOLUTELY certain that the tire wasn't damaged by any foreign object first, then there is certainly no need to freak out here.

Accidents happen, and we're thankful he was not injured but lets be realistic here.

Yes... you are correct... But if there was no foreing object..... I will be worried if you have Dunlop tires in your car. At least I would.:scratchhe

I don't like the Dunlops....but I'm too cheap to change them until I end up in a ditch. :mdrmed:

Speaking of Dunlops, I don't dislike them, but I would love to try the Yokohama Advan Neovas. For what I've seen, they seem to perform quite good

Or, he may not have been checking his pressures and it could have been significantly underinflated for a while, causing heat build up over time, which severely compromised the integrity of the tire.

Lesson: 'tis better to slightly overinflate than to end up in the weeds later.

you had a back tire blow out and it made you go into a ditch? i know when a front tire goes out it can make your steering jerk never heard of a back tire doing that thankfully u are alright and have them inspect the tire if there is no reason why it blew then it might be the tires since this isnt the first time.

Underinflation.....#1 cause of blowouts.

mine blew out also but mine came with bridgestone reo40
the cause was underinflation the tire had a slow leak from the factory and i put air in almost every week till i forgot once
didnt hurt anything though
replaced with dunlop fm901 tires love them much quiter and grippier

I replaced my OE Dunlops at about 25k miles. When they pulled them off, they showed me a 3-inch long finishing nail that was stuck clear through the tire! You could barely notice it from the outside - only a tiny silver spot. I have no idea how long it was there. The thing that really made me nervous was that I'd been to the track only a month earlier. :eek:
