My rx8 when i turn on the car it takes a long time for the heat to come on. The antifreeze is full and when I return to the car an hour after driving shut off park and return the car is as hot as a oven. Ideas?
car is hot after driving as in the cabin? check your cat if you have one. try flushing the heater core
Also a few other things the brake works but needs to be replaced, Anyone have theirs replaced? Expensive?
yes its easy and no different than any other car. the rear pistons screw in not press in which requires a tool other than a c clamp. most over look these steps but serivice you caliper pins and and de burr the "ears" on the pads to make sure they slide freely in the brackets
So pissed off, I had to get an oil change recently and the auto place lost my engine bay cover but I cant prove it and they wont replace it. I had a backup cover that was given to me but my parents might have trashed it not knowing what it was in the garage.

Yes, I was going to have my own mechanic do it but he complained that he has too many cars he was working on at the time. So..go fig. I didn't look under the hood till a month later until the coolant light came up cause, the freaking guy didn't close the coolant cap ALL the way when checking all fluids.

Fixed.

New member question. Oil metering pump?
Hey everyone! New here and my 2009 rx8. To make it short, she was sitting for roughly 3-4 weeks because of a trans issue. Switched to a midpipe as well. Here's the issue... turned it on andgot think white smoke out the back. Not really a rough idle and would go above 3 thousand rpms. PLEASE HELP. This hasn't discouraged me or anything, just miss driving.

I'm trying to install a Scosche line output converter, and I can't make it work. The previous owner cut the wiring to the rear deck speakers because they didn't want the sound system that was installed, so I have to tap into the front left and right channels for signal to the LOC. What wires should I use for this? I checked the Audio/HU FAQ and couldn't find anything for wiring this the way I'm attempting.

RX-8 Driver Side Dimmensions
This is a dumb question / request that I am hoping can get answered. I am making a racing sim rig, and I happened to find an RX-8 seat in pretty decent condition. I decided I would base my measurements for the rest of the rig based on the RX-8. So I have my seat, but I need good measurements and can't find any on the web. So I will ask here (in the dumb question category).
I need measurements for the following.
I would be appreciative of any information that can be provided.
I need measurements for the following.
- Distance seat sits off the ground
- With driver seat all the way back, distance from front of the seat to pedals (straight line, not leg room)
- distance of center of wheel from floor
- distance of center of wheel to back of seat (seat strait up)
I would be appreciative of any information that can be provided.

I have 113,000 miles on my rx8, just purchased a month ago for $1000, and I'm experiencing low compression problems; the coils/wires, battery, and plugs have been changed recently (last 5000 miles). I am mechanically savvy. Should I rebuild my engine or replace it? I want it to be lower-cost, and I would be doing my own labor. I won't skimp on parts but I don't want to overspend.

...Or just buy a Mazda reman from a dealer for like 3 grand and put it in yourself. The remans are supposedly pretty good nowadays.
NotAPreppie has done that so you can ask him for details.
The thing with a builder is that it can get expensive pretty fast since the price will vary depending on what you want to reuse, while a Mazda reman contains a lot of new parts already and it doesn't matter how bad your old engine is. It can have the housings and rotors scrapped like Freddy Kreuger paid a visit, but as long as the engine is still in one piece, it will be accepted as a core.
IMO the reman has a better value if you are keeping the car stock. Building is better if you want to make some mods to the engine.

Car sat too long, won't run at all
So, I am embarrassed to say my car sat for about three years. I can't get it to start. I was in a tough part of life and that part is over. Nuff said.
I can't find anyone to work on the car in my area. The local dealer changed hands and we had to end our working relationship.
Is there anywhere to sell a car in this condition? It has been in my garage for the entire time. At this point, how do I even put a value on a car like this? It is a 2005 with about 130k miles and a relatively new clutch. I am realistic. While I love driving it, this has become as much about getting it out of my garage as getting money out of it.
Any thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

The situation probably isn't as bad as you'd think, assuming your car was running well before you parked it.
Obviously, you will need new gas and likely new tires from the flat spots. Give it an oil change and coolant flush as well.
If you still can't start, then go through the de-flood procedure and put in a set of new ignition components, and that should be everything you need.

It sounds like it just needs fresh gas. If there is space in the tank, fill it up with a fresh fill of premium. If the tank is already near full, unfortunately I can't help with draining, no idea on that one.
The other possibility is that mice or other critters chewed on low hanging wires such as the eccentric shaft sensor wire. I'd give everything a quick look underneath.

Idk that this a dumb question...
This is my first post of what I hope to be many, seems like a knowledgeable community. But I'm not an rx-8 owner but hope to be soon. I test drove today and boy what a blast, but I hope to be buying it this weekend. It's an 08 manual, the dealer has labeled it a 6A. What does this mean? Is it a mazda trim or just something with the dealer? I cant find this info anywhere. Thanks in advance for your help.

just checking in other countries they call different rx8 power train options different things. ive never heard of 6a. does it have sunroof, leather?
#6972
yeah, for sure. It has cloth interior, I'm pretty sure it's a base model, but again, I'm no expert, and no sunroof. It is a beautiful dark teal color though, I've never seen that before, maybe an aftermarket paint job or a special edition I'm not aware of, I'm not sure.

do you have the dealer listing or pics?
#6974
I don't unfortunately, it's a small local car lot, I've bought vehicles from them before though, as far as car salesmen go hes pretty honest about the cars and stands behind them, I had an 01 cougar from him, the transmission gave out and he replaced it at no cost to me. Even gave me a loaner car while it was being worked on. But no, they go by word of mouth mostly, they have a website but it's not kept up very well and it's not on there.

Could just be a dealer stock number then.
