driver's window controls problem

Hello,
I am having a strange intermittent problem with my window buttons on the driver's side door. They work fine 80% of the time, but every once in a while I will notice the backlight for them will turn off and neither button will function. If i restart the car, their functionality usually comes back. Also, if I lean over and press the passenger window button, my driver's side buttons immediately light up again and start working.
Is there a particular relay I should be looking at replacing?
That doesn't make a lot of sense since if it were a faulty switch, wire, or relay then why would pressing the passenger side button make it come back on?

I have noticed that after removing the key from ignition, the window buttons remain powered for a short time so you can roll them up before leaving the car. Maybe it has something to do with that mechanism being faulty and for some reason thinks the power to it should be turned off?

Ideas?

Thank you.

I would take the panel off make sure the electronic connector is in good shape and plugged in all the way. Also check to make sure the fuses for the power windows are good and secured.

I have this exact same problem. Don't think it's a fuse because it is intermittant, but checked them anyway. Cabin and underhood fuses are both fine. Doesn't happen often enough for me to take the door panel off yet.

I fixed it

Hi,
This ended up becoming a bigger problem as the speaker stopped working in that door too.
I ended up having to unplug the wiring harness from where the door meets the car at the hinges and re-seat it. Apparently it had become loose and wasn't making firm contact with the window wires and speaker wires. Hitting bumps in the road would sometimes "fix it" temporarily. Everything worked fine after I reseated it, but the harness appeared to be snapped in properly at first inspection, so I didn't think it was the culprit.

Also, it's a huge pain to get it snapped back in there right. I think I ended up taking the door off in order to get the angle right.

Good luck!

the power window switch panels pop out on their own, the actual door panel can stay on
