Driver side door will not open
Not sure what happened but I went out to my car and the driver side door won't open, attempted to open it from the outside and inside. It seems like it won't unlock. like it's jammed in the locked position. I attempted to use my key, and unlock it manually from the inside but the switch won't move all the way over. Any suggestions? I would attempt to remove the panel to look at the mechanism but seeing how I can't open the door to do so, I'm stuck.

All I can say is do some searching, I do know that it has happened before, but can't remember how people got to the mechanism with the door shut.
Use advance search, it works better and look for thread titles. |
Search with each and every word you used in this thread's title and you will come accross it. 9krpmrx8 should be the person you contact, he lives in SA, TX.

I was gonna say that your door is probably frozen shut... but then I saw you are from Texas lol.

Oh dam.... After reading that post, I'm in for one hell of a weekend :/ wish me luck
|
Look at the bright side. Afterwards, your breaking and entering skills will be much improved.
:suspect: |
Speaking of which... now I can only open my trunk because my batter must have died or my keyless entry will not work.... Any way to get into the car from the trunk?? I'm searching... But I must suck at searching this site
|
yeah, squeeze through the pass-through in the trunk.
or just get a new battery. or............ when in doubt, bang it out.:Kill1: |
Where is the pass through? I looked for a way to push down the seats/middle consle and they wouldn't budge. Just push harder? My car is parked at a bus station, so I'm kind of in a bind and need to make sure I get get in when go back over there
|
What's wrong with using the physical metal key? (The lock is in the passenger side taillight housing).
Or the pushputton inside close to the hood release? |
I can access the inside of my trunk, I can't access the inside of my car. Due to the lock issue with the driver side, and the battery being dead (and lack of a key hole) on the passenger side
|
Time to call pop-a-lock to open the passenger side door.

Breaking out (or perhaps unlatching) the passthru between the rear seats might allow hooking the passenger side latch from the inside (but I doubt it). Try going the route suggested by 9krpm or break out the passenger side glass; it's probably not that expensive to pick up a replacement from a junkyard or partout. :fingersx: |
I have a locksmith looking at it now, makes me nervous as hell though. I like working on my own stuff. If only I knew how to break into my own car lol
|
 Pop-a-lock should only cost $50.00 or so. Way cheaper than busting the glass out :) But if pop-a-lock is not an option then well......

Fixing the door latch was a total pain in the ass, probably even harder than replacing the engine and turbo kit, Do yourself a favor or order a new latch so you don't have to mess with it again. |
I never knew how much I loved the feature of an opening driver side door until it's gone. From now on every time I open my door, without crawling around the inside to get out the passenger side, I will smile :)

Who knows though? Hopefully he can do it. :fingersx: |
A locksmith can open the passenger door so he can get into the cabin and work on fixing the drivers side door latch. But a locksmith will almost certainly not be able to open the drivers side door if his spring is broken like mine was (which I am sure it is, many have had the same problem).
|
Finally got in, he jacked up the driver side and charged the battery from the alternator. Appears that I left my lights on :X
|
Oh wow, I wouldn't have know charging the battery that way. Well, like 9krpmrx8 and a few if us have dealt with this broken spring actuator, you're gonna have a hell-of-a weekend to work on this.

Probably starter than, it's at the mechanics right now, I'm curious to see how much they charge for the amount of label everyone described in the other related post. If it is intact that spring

Alternator? or starter? I wouldn't think it's possible to reach any alternator connections from the bottom.
