Door and belt choreography
Tonight for the first time we went out on town with four of us in the 8. It was an interesting drill that improves with practice to get in and out in a coordinated manner. A couple times, the rear seat pax had to get out while those in front didn't...
Unfasten front belt, open front door, unfasten rear belt, open rear door, if front door is opening uphill, push it out extra hard to stay open, pax exit, shut rear door, shut front door. We never goofed except once I opened front door and forgot to release seat belt, such mistake being immediately evident to rear pax who prompted me. Someone almost shut front door first, but rear door person wasn't fooled so no danger there. Sometime try slamming front door shut with rear door open; it is harmless and you'll see right away your mistake. Gives many cues you goofed so you don't slam the rear door onto a shut front door. My wife in front passenger seat kept tilting her seat forward to let rear pax in and out. I kept explaining she didn't have to do that. Force of habit after all these years. ;) If you have regular pax (adolescents, etc.) they will get well-rehearsed at this dance after awhile. |
