dont try this at home

ah, uk roundabouts can be fun, but not on cold tyres.

my10ae 02-22-2004 05:04 PM

OUCH! Wait... thats a DOUBLE OUCH!

sunlightred8 02-22-2004 05:11 PM

eeee....ahhh, well I guess you get a new rim 'eh. ahah

man, how fast were ya goin'?

bugbear 02-22-2004 05:29 PM

i'd just gone half a mile, air temp around 5C (41F) and entered the single lane roundabout at 56mph - i know cos i checked just before i turned. the car understeered and i braked. hit the kerb almost side on (rear took some damage too) maybe 5mph sideways, 25 forwards.

two new rims - £460 - amazingly cheap for the uk - that would have been £1000+ for bee emm wheels.

Astor 02-22-2004 10:28 PM

Was that with or without DSC?

Navybeardbb 02-22-2004 11:01 PM

Ouchzors.

Man that is seriously on F*ck'd up wheel... that sucks man. Look at the bright side at least you didn't mess up more!

bugbear 02-23-2004 01:37 AM

Astor - DSC on. It didnt help - the fronts had no grip - i really didnt realise how much those RE40s have to warm up.

MyRxBad 02-23-2004 09:34 AM

I'd be having a good look at the front suspension too after that hit.

Sue Esponte 02-23-2004 10:48 AM

That's ugly. Maybe cause for a wheel upgrade? :)

I don't know how hard you hit the curb, but I had very similar damage to my wheel after being hit by another car. It wasn't a very hard hit and my suspension was fine. It doesn't take too much to punch a hole in these rims.

Knerk 02-23-2004 03:38 PM

Loco is right the rims are a bit fragile - but perform ok. They tend to snap more than bend.

bugbear 02-23-2004 04:41 PM

Eric - not time for a wheel upgrade, but with one puncture i did take the opportunity to purchase two new S-03s :)

JSE RX-8 02-23-2004 06:24 PM

wow that sucks man. post pics of the new setup when you can

mmmdowning 02-24-2004 09:19 AM

Ouch! That had to hurt.

z00m-z00m 02-25-2004 01:23 AM

Doesn't look very cool there man. Time to go shopping for new rims, or look for people who already purchased new ones and are looking to sell their old ones.

Mikelikes2drive 02-25-2004 01:35 AM

at least your axle didnt break...

Squidward 02-26-2004 04:37 AM

ouch!! is it okay to drive still?? Geez, I think the tire might blow or deflate or something with the rim looking like that...
