we need to copy canada then.. Its really the 1st line of defence from a wreck. you can put as many airbags as you want but I would take some good rubber under the car over any airbags anyday

Back in the 80's when everything was skinny tires, front wheel drive, and all seasons people got complacent about what tires we had on our cars. Now that rear wheel drive with performance tires are back American's need to be more aware of what tires your car has on it. It still boggles my mind that lots of people don't know their car comes with summer tires as OEM.

Yeah, the law here is right tire for the conditions, which is a bit fuzzy, but it means if you crash and it's snow and you've got summer tires, you will be poorer than you were.

Some people go for all-season tires. Which I call crappy tires in summer and crappy tires in winter.

haha, you can't afford snow tires, but you can afford an RX8 and I assume Hawaii was a holiday. Sounds like you can't afford a lot more than just snow tires.

That saying is long and boring. Just call them no-seasons.

thats crazy stealth. i want to also say that its not just the tires. its the people that are too lazy to maintain their car are also probably among the worst of the drivers.

and yeah, snow tires really should be mandatory in states where it actually snows. maryland/va and up on the east coast.

Since I moved here, I have never seen so many people with non working headlights and tail lights .They have freaking inspections here, In fl they dont do any inpections or emissions testing and you hardly ever see headlights burnt out. I dont get it.

I think most (maybe all?) of those states require snow tires on "Snow emergency routes." The rules for that are pretty much like what neXib described for "right tire for the conditions."

It would be hard to mandate snow tires in a state like Virginia, where there are usually only a few snow days a year, and a lot of years have no snow at all.

lol...i dont think you have to worry about snow much where you live ... if you do get snow once in the while, just take it easy on it and you should be fine
