does anyones car rattle even worse in the cold weather
when I put the rx8 into gear it shakes like it always has..now it seems worse..it also happens when i brake
it happens all the time for me, worse in cold weather.. but a trick I learned is to turn on the heater, the rattling goes away when the interior is warm, and I'm also warm :)
are you on the stock tires?? they get hard during the winter and will transfer more force to the rest of the car.

yeah it was 15 degress and i also get a lag when im turning on my car in da morning
Yes definitely.
I guess whatever specific material that is used is really affected by heat and cold. For example, the e-brake handle in the summer is like gumbi soft, but in the winter I can't even bend it in the morning. I think pieces creak and rattle because there is no flex in them. ________ HOW TO ROLL BLUNTS |
Every car sucks in the cold weather.

Cars rattle more just like humans do.
i'm having the same issue after the recall , it vibrates everytime i brake but it disappear after about 20min. of driving. I think this has something to do with the engine/transmission mount.
yeah rattles are worse in cold weather, plastic is less pliable....
first winter on the planet?
Rattle behind intrument cluster anyone?
I've got a tree in my front yard that seems to creak more in winter than summer.
I notice that the plastic pieces in the dash creak when the car is cold, going around turns mostly. After the cabin warms up it creaks a lot less, maybe every so often. I know its just the cold weather do it doesn't bother me to much.
^ Same here. It's not really very noticeable when I am driving on smooth roads. When I have to drive over rough, bumpy, rutted parts of road it it pretty bad. Also sounds pretty bad going over speed bumps when I'm leaving and my car is totally cold. It does get less when the car is warmed up. Not really a big deal. Turn the radio up and you won't notice! LOL
Yeah, it's awful in the cold. I have yet to go to the dealer a second time to make them fix a motor mount issue, so my car is a giant vibrator with all the plastic being stiffer. Rattles all over the place. Funny though, only GUYS complain about my car vibrating and rattling...
I just got new motor mounts, and my rattles are gone. I also only have about 3600 miles on my car, so eventually some will probably appear.

3600 miles and motor mounts already? |
I haven't really noticed a lot of rattling but I usually have my radio on. I have noticed that if I let it idle, every once and a while the rpms will drop slightly and the car will shake for a second... This happen to anyone else? Is this normal?

I've noticed tons of rattles appear. During the summer almost none. This is my first winter with this car.
Both doors now rattle, in the right front corner where the dash meets the windshield it rattles. Might have to go on a rattle hunt. |
Mine also does that, but stops when the temperatures are warmer and the car is warmed up. It's just the materials getting hard/less flexible or whatever that causes it.
Your header and post conflict eath other. We don't know what you are talking about as you switch subjects.
If you have shake and rattle and it's worse now....... then sound like motor mount. If you you are talking about rattles or sqeeks only when it's cold that's different. I haven't driven my car for over two weeks and yesterday the dash was making noise like crazy. It was cold. 50 degrees. Went away after awhile. I just attributed it to taking off the sound barrier (the black plastic piece on top of the impact bar under bumper). Never had noises before when cold. |
It's molecular baby, yeah.
Temperatures below 30 at night but no rattles warm or cold. Had a rattle earlier, but it turned out to be an acorn that a rodent had carried into the air conditioner fan area - once that was removed no problems rattle stopped and no problems since
My seats shake at idle, need to get the motor mounts replaced. I also have rattles in both front doors, either the speakers are loose or there is something that is rattling in both. The rattles in the doors are worse with the radio on, but they both rattle over rough pavement.
That's not where my sqeek is coming from.
The worst is swaybars with urethane bushings... I need to regrease them. Everytime I take a corner is sounds like i have cats (the kind that meow... not the kind that convert some raw exhuast gases to heat) stapled to my wheels.
squeeks usually are amplified when it's cold. If there are any in a car, it tends to show 10-fold.
