Does Anyone Offer A Rotary Engine Training/Tuning Class?

Does anyone know if there is a company that offers rotary specific training?

I know that Mazda has training available for their employees, and they even have a Mazda Technical College in Japan. Only problems: I'm not a Mazda employee, nor do I speak Japanese (although I would like to learn!).

I'm looking for a class or program that would cover everything from teardown, rebuilding, diagnosing and repair, and tuning.

Got any recommendations??

I'd certainly be up for that, but I'm trying to find a more formal class, school, or program instead of just backyard mechanic learning.

The 4 DVD Rotary Rebuild DIY is educational.

Mazdatrix sells it: http://www.mazdatrix.com/videos.htm

$110!! :Eyecrazy:

I guess it's cheaper than tuition at a school though. Thanks!

Pineapple Racing, http://www.pineappleracing.com/ , out in Portland Oregon occasionally holds classes on rotary rebuilding, etc. You might check with them on anything they have coming up. They also sell a bunch of videos on the rebuilding process that look highly educational.

MUCH more technically oriented threads over there. these cars are old so people arent afraid to tear into them. Plus theres always crap breaking and theres a lot of info on how to fix stuff yourself since we're mostly poor and dont have warranties. You can learn a lot just by reading.

While I appreciate all of the informal education, simply telling a dealership that I've read a lot of info or watched some videos won't land me a career as a rotary technician. I know Mazda trains their own guys, but I just wondered if there was an external formal class somewhere that did certification or something.

Again, thanks for the info. I definetly will take it all into consideration. You've all been a great help.

like tony_673 says I would like to know if there are any courses etc available except in the uk as I would like to open a rotary repair garage. I've rebuilt a few now but unfortunately theres a law in Scotland that says you need more than a "backyard mechanic" to start up

Actually. YouTube has some EXTREMELY helpful videos for FREE :). Search Rotary Engine Rebuild. Find the video series posted by Blake Martinez. it's probably just as good, if not better, than videos offered by a lot of the vendors, and any crash course offered by shops in your area.

I bought the instructional video from Atkins rotary and it was a total waste of money. It's so rushed and half assed IMO, I can't recommen ito anyone. Can't say anything good or bad about The material supplied by othe vendors.
