did my homework...
ok so i been reasarching here and there for an intake... origionally I wanted K&N cuz its a new design, and i figured it would sound nice, then i heard that the MS was better, so i found out pleanty of reasons why to pick this one, THEN people started telling me to get the RB intake... so I was like, himm... this one has its good strong points too.... then today i read some more on it and i found out that they will all give you about no gain and it basiclly boils down to looks and sound.
Now, ive heard the the RB is real quiet and smooth, you get good power from a stop, on the go, and at high peak. Then i started to think to myself.. if they all work about the same... im paying for sound and looks... now for looks, im not gonna be driving around with my hood open, and I wont have enough mods to go to shows and pop my hood so looks isnt a big deal, yet. Performance, there all about the same, so it leaves sound.... if i get the revi, it will sound smooth, still. But why would I wanna pay to sound the same, look stock, and give me hardly any performance? soo..... Im pretty much in the middle of RB and K&N. What do you guys feel? Or have a completley missed something? thanks -RoMeO |
All the CAI's give you little or no power gain. All they do is make noise.
I think you answered you own questions man. I'd go with Racing Beat if I were buying though. Buts thats just me.
you would be better off popping your collar
how bout instead of wasting money on an intake...you just go and carbon fiber out your engine bay....or buy a new bar ((preferabally MS)) ...looks good in the engine bay
Racing beat over K&N?
to me it is not worth the $$$. no significant power gains.
Racing Beat has proven an increase in gas mileage of around 2-3MPG.
Spend the cabbage on something that does its purpose. The stock engine sounds great as it is, I don't know why it would be worth $500 to change how it sounds.
the thing there is, I want Sound. and i heard RB is real quiet compared to the Typhoon. Im really leaning towards Typhoon... Im looking for "real" reasons why not to. Gas Milage of 2-3 MPG isnt anything, Im spending gas money regardless. (and gas prices are going down :D )
So if I want sound.... and they all wont give me THAT much power... and I think the Typhoon looks nice..... ... why should I get the RB? (this is a honest question, I want to know why...) thanks. -RoMeO |
I think if you are just looking for sound, you should check out exhausts instead.
^^even bigger money wasting for no gains =_=
I have the K&N on my car, I like it a lot, it's not too terribly loud, it was a super easy install, it was fairly well priced, and it looks cool under the hood. |
Suspension upgrade ftw. looks good AND it works!
man....that's all a waste. get a turbo kit. good looks, power, and sound. case closed.
suspension is ALWAYS a good decision... just don't cheap out :)

My theory is, if im gonna get a turbo, I'll get it with a Turbo Engine...
... I dont have that kind of money right now... How much are Turbo's w/ installation? |
Greddy turbo is around 3.5k and i think the installation is around 900 dollars lol.
yeeeeah.... lets go with the intake for now...
I'll do the Turbo soon though. -RoMeO Any final atempts at convincing me to go RB opposed to Typhoon?... |
You can find the greddy kit for like 2.5k these days me thinks
Whats wrong with the stock air box? If all your going for is sound just remove the VAFD and that will give you some sound for free.
