i know one of this day could happen eventhough trying my best to avoid one.

i had my pax door dented and little scratch by an suv parked next to mine.

it was a rental suv, even though no witness it looked very obvious where it came from. i checked it before going inside the restaurant after i came out wtf ??!!...

i asked the occupant and they kept fucking denied that. deputy sherriff was called in but cudnt do shit. i called my insurance company and its cost less than my dedutible to repair. chance dont look good to get the other insurance pay for it.
i tried to use the touch paint to paint chipping but seems it makes it looks worst. i wont use that anymore ughh

do i just drop this claim instead.....rather that cause my premiun increased ???

Why does the touch up paint make it look worse? Buffer that junk, pop the dent, touch it up with the paint, put on clearcoat, buffer again - should look nice new... otherwise, bring it to a body specialist, your looking at a $200 bill

Maybe next time, you will stay in the confines of your own parking space.

i didnt take the pic of the other car parked next my right.

it was parked further to the left thats why parking was in such position.

if you look further , the gap is petty wide enough for them to exit. (dual line not single ). it was a rental car packed with people. why wud them bother to protect it since its a rental.

those rented it didnt even want to cooperate when i asked them politely but to confront me.

i have decided to bring them to the small claim court.

Just pay to get it fixed, your most important worry is to find a good shop that won't screw things up even more.

Small claims court is a waste of time, even if you did win. All that time and agravation lost for a few hundred dollars.

I would venture that the middle eastners that parked next to you write better English than you. Please at least make an effort to write well enough for most people to understand. You show much ignorance( The deductible is more than the damage: should I pursue this without raising deductable? Your insurance company doesn't give a crap, not their responsibility) I guess your old enough to drive but you sound like a 12 year old. Try to work on this to be taken seriously.

Just be glad it's a minor scratch. My parking lot incident totalled $3500+.

myself and my insurance company are working on this case. their insurance made the decision to deny my claim in a split second solely based on their policy holder statement. not all people are brave enough to admit to their faults.

I think minor dents and dings are bound to happen, all you can do is make sure you park far away from others, and park in areas with less traffic. I have a few very minor dings that only I can probably see on my car, and that’s ok by me. I wish they weren’t there, but I’m not about to pay to have it fixed, let alone go to court over a very minor repair. At first I acted like I drove a Ferrari, but now I realize that it’s just another car on the road. Granted it’s a nice car, but these things aren’t worth getting too upset over.

It's the fact that you are over-reacting that is getting you flamed. Maybe you win your small claims court case, maybe you don't, but good luck collecting. The rest of us unfortunately know if you drive your car, odds are at some point in time some tool will park too close and dent it. If u are that concerned about dents, u should have parked further away where no one was or in a wider spot. At work, I park out of my way in a spot that adds a little bit more time to walk into the office but lets me park in a way where there is no way I can get a door ding. Next time you will know better.

I've gotten a couple dings on the rear fender. Yes its sad, but I dont think you could win in court over this... Just get it fixed and park far away.

It's a few hundred dollars; it isn't worth your time or effort to launch a small claims case unless you either have time or money to burn. I can understand that you want to prove a point, that mean people suck, and that they should get their just desserts. However, to do so, you have to go through extra pain and agony, beyond that which you experienced when you got your car dinged.

We're not unsympathetic - we understand what you're going through. Well, most of us do.

It's just a car.

I say make the bastard that dinged the 8 pay for the damages. Hell, I've been in tight parking situations and I always take care not to ding the car next to me.

I would have NEVER parked there in the first place. :nono: Ask and ye shall recieve (a dent). The average person out there doesn't give a sh*t about their car or yours.

Unfortunately, most of the 8 owners that responsed to this thread do not understand its NOT just the ding that infruriates me, but the reaction from persons and their insurance company that are trying to wash their hands off that pissed me the most. they made their decision quickly to deny my claim the very next day after it was filed solely (that also shocked my ins. claim rep.) based on the statement from their clients without due investigations is unacceptable.

some people need to be taught a lesson for their action eventhough i have to go extra miles to do it.

Suck it up and pay for it. I find dings on my 8 here and there, I get pissed, but that's really a part of driving. You risk these things, maybe thats why my 8 is more of a garage queen than anything else lol.

I suggest you park way farther than that, or park at a space where your next to a no parking zone so you take less risk of getting these little nicks.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. The same type of dent happened to me the first year i got my '99 bmw 323i. I ended up paying $350 out of pocket and had a body shop repair it. (My deductible is $500.) The repair was very mediocre, but it was a lot better than looking at the dent & scratch everyday.

Ever since then, I've almost always adhered to the rule of never, ever parking next to an SUV- period. Sometimes, your passengers will bitch at you & complain you're being too anal etc. But, you have to look at it from this perspective. You save yourself a lot of headache and heartbreak by just parking slightly further away whenever possible- esp when you can find a spot where you're less likely to get door dings. Along-the-wall or edge corner spots are always the best. I only park in between other cars when the spaces are not compact-size, because you never know if some jack-ass SUV or mini-van driver is going to park next to you and ding your door.

I would put a couple sheets of fabric softer under your front & passenger seats b4 dropping off the car to the body shop- you know those things you put in the dryer when you dry your clothes? Reason-being, the interior of your car will smell like paint for weeks- even after a small body repair like this. And, the fabric softer sheets will help absorb a lot of the smell and help minimize the odor. A minor repair like that will take about a week- from start to finish- probably less for an efficient body shop.

thats exactly the estimate i am getting from my bodyshop. rought abt 850.

Yah. The price depends on the location of the dent. For doors, they usually have to pry off all the rubber lining, which they have to replace- and they have to take apart the door panel etc. Typically, they have to blend the continuity of the new paint w/ the existing surrounding paint- so that it looks consistent. (The older paint will always be to some degree- more oxidized by the sun, in color.) So that takes some labor to do. Whitewater Pearl is also metallic, so it might be more expensive. (My car was Oriental Blue Metallic, so also a metallic paint.)

I know how you feel though... It really sucks, because it's really unbelieveable what assholes some other people can be. But, after you go through this, you'll be less sensitive to it and just realize that you have to protect yourself by being a picky when it comes to parking spaces.
