Definitely Runs Better in Cool Weather

I was skeptical when the Mazda service rep told me, back when the temps in Austin were 100 degrees and humidity at 95%, that engines gain 1% performance for every 7-10 degree drop in ambient temperatures.

Well, FINALLY, the mornings have been in the upper '50's and the humidity is down in the 20% range and my car is definitely running quicker. Not a huge difference but it is certainly there. Combine this with the fact that I'm not running the a/c and this car is now nicely peppy.

I doubt the extra miles on the engine has anything to do with it as it was still in the 90's when my engine was at 2,500 miles.

If I lived in a year-round mild climate I just might be tempted to keep her!

I noticed this too. It was 45 degrees yesterday morning, and I decided to take the car out for a spin. It felt like a different car. It really was very noticeable.

You don't notice this in your RX-7 or your S2000? (Or in all cars, basically? Some a tad more noticable than others).

Might be more noticeable with a hot running rotary. Weather was brutal here in August and the engine, I bet, was struggling to breathe. With cool temps finally, the engine wants to dance.

you gonna keep her now?

You also notice this a lot with turbocharged cars. They love cool dense air! I too notice this with my car this morning. Yesterday it was running poorly because of the hot afternoon sun, but this morning she was back to normal!

I noticed an increase in power yesterday on my way back from work at 10pm. :)
