dealer won't replace under warranty...

just had my car serviced and i asked them to check out my parking brake b/c the "foot" at the base has cracked and broken where it flexes...all i got back was a quote for 170 to replace the shift boot...wtf? shouldn't this be under warranty?

It should be covered under bumper to bumper warranty (AKA Basic Warranty)

I had mine replaced 3 times. no questions asked.

Print out the service bulletin at the link below and take it into your dealer.

for some reason i think a memo went out to all mazda dealers to stop covering covered parts under warranty. I'm trying to get my warranty refunded because they wont cover something that my details say is covered... if they wont refund i'll be suing them.

its not the money thats the issue, its the principle of getting ripped off.

that really depends on the dealer.

So make sure u go to a good one.

Reason? Could be considered normal wear & tear stuff like the wrinkles in the leather seats. Get solid answer! I just ordered a steering wheel for cracking under warranty.

thanks for the replies...mine broke exactly where it points to on the bulletin...but it's strange b/c the bulletin states the material was changed on cars made after jul1 05 and mine was after that yet still broke???

mazda is denying warranty coverage? no....not them....it can't be

thats because the factory's setting was too "long"

after replacement if the dealership did not adjust the length, when u pull it, its still gonna break. thas how my first 2 broke. 3rd time, they re-adjust the length and it hasn't break since then.

so make sure to tell the dealership to "readjust" the hand brake so it will not break the part again.
