The dealer refuses to sell Eights!!

I dropped my car off at my local Mazda dealer and I noticed that they had no Eight's on the lot. Come to think of it when I was looking for an RX-8 they never had one in stock. While I was sitting there waiting on car, I went and talked to sales manager. He told me they never and will never sale a RX-8 at their dealer. They sure do like servicing them though. The Manger just told me that the owner refuses to sell them and that is that. :Wconfused

Considering that the EOL for the RX8 was this year, I am not surprised. Considering any RX8 sitting on a dealers lot are going to be a pain in the ass to get rid of as the car gets less and less exposure.

EightCostsMoney 07-07-2011 08:34 AM

That makes sense.

makes perfect sense at this point considering the sales rates of the RX-8 compared cars such as the 3, 6 or even the 2.

Seems weird to me that they have the authority to do that as an authorized dealer.

If someone wanted an 8 they would find one. Saying flat out that they refuse to sell them as an authorized dealer, I seriously doubt they have that much say so in it. Don't they have to order a certain quanity of each model?

That was my thinking as well. :yesnod:

the dealer that i went to in the chicago area, never had an 8 in stock either.. A lot of people will order one and with the high gas prices and everything, not a lot of people would buy an 8. so thats why they wont keep them in stock. they would be losing money

One of my co-worker bought a CX-9 and they never even saw one rx-8 on the dealer lot.

I think they stop making it already, whatever you see on the lot are "left overs"

Understandable. consider Rx-8 was never a big seller. Time to make room for the next rotary to come :)

I just noticed that when browsing the new inventory on the web sites of three of my local dealers... the RX-8 isn't even listed as a search option anymore :(

Bladecutter 07-09-2011 03:36 PM

You're better off looking at cars.com to see inventory for the RX8 in comparison to looking at a dealer's website.

Most dealer websites are built in such a way that unless the vehicle is uploaded in their current inventory by their internet sales manager, the pull down option for a type of car won't even show up.

BC.

It's a sad thing. It seemd like the dealer could car less about the Eight anymore, other than the insane repair bills.

When I bought my car used from the Mazda dealer in Springfield,IL they told me they haden't sold new RX-8's since 2007. They also do not sell the Mazda Speed3. Told me that tools to service it would cost 20k to buy so they decided not to sell the car.

"mid" level sports cars are just not in the US market.. yes there are alot of people such as us that appreciate a car as rounded as the 8 (torque not included) but all my friends would buy a mustang long before looking for an 8 .. well that is until the take a ride autocrossing

EightCostsMoney 07-14-2011 08:36 AM

Funny my dealer who also sells Fords tried to sell me a Mustang. I went with the Eight because I had my heart set on one and I had done my research.

My only fear with Eight's demise is if parts will be ratably available in the future. Was this a problem with the RX-7?
