A day without my 8

I'm so sad my 8 is in for service. Well, not really service, but they are putting on that perma-plate thing to protect the paint and fabric. They gave me a rental...it's a freakin Kia Rio. The guy even asked me if I wanted to "upgrade" to a Hyundai Elantra for $5 more and I was like, "Is that really an upgrade??". O well, I hope to get my baby back tonight.

I feel for you.

Dropping mine off tomorrow am because she threw a CEL at me Monday morning...I shudder to think what I'll be driving...at I'll still be driving.

My RX8 is in the shop right waiting for the new engine they have ordered for it. Its been there a week and I expect probebly two more weeks. At first they put me in a Cavalier with bad brakes. I got them to change it to a Mazda 3.

When I went back to the dealer to get the cd's I left in the player, I just sat in the car for 10 mins gripping the wheel wonddering what it would be like to drive it again.

I've only had the car for 6 weeks!

"permaplate for fabric and finish"

Bad idea - the silicone in the crap for the paint makes your car unpaintable (or at lease very difficult to paint) if it needs body repair and it will STILL oxidize and get acid rain damage, and the fabric stuff collects dirt.

Please trust me on this, I used to own a detail shop, and we applied that crap for hire for dealerships until my conscience got the best of me and I stopped doing it.

There's no substitute for a good hand washing once or twice a week and a good wax job with water-based carnuba wax (I use Malm's or Griot's Garage's Best In Show); and if the finish is oxidized, a fine polish finish cleaner like Malms or Meguiar's #7.

Well...I declined the perma-plate offer in the beginning, but the guy fiddled with my apr and he made it so I would pay an extra $2.XX/month (for 60 months) for the permaplate. Hehe, I really don't know much about it, so thanks for the info. Would I be able to take it off if I decide I don't want it? I mainly got it so if I mess up my interior (from rainy days and other things) they will replace what they can't clean. I think that's their guarantee, not sure. Either way, I just want to get my baby back and return this POS Rio.

Rotten42 - Sorry to hear about your car. Only 6 weeks and it needed a new engine? Makes me kinda uneasy =P
