why don't you first tell what you like about those two particular coils and then we'll help you decide.

well thats the things im not really sure ... my car is pretty low as it is but i want better suspension then just stock.. im doing a bunch of stuff to my car and coils well happens to be the first priority.

rodjonathan 08-03-2010 05:38 PM

well it depends on what you want out of the suspension

RedRX-8 08-04-2010 03:47 PM

well im thinking about starting to drift my car at like meets and stuff so i need like amazing suspension.. cause ill be racing as well.. but idk i heard tein is really good for suspension. but those D2 racing rs and the H&R coils i heard are the best coils you can get for rx8 from several owners and mazda as well... im thinking about going with tein just because

Jedi54 08-04-2010 03:51 PM

people drift at meets?
what kind of racing are you doing? you got any cool kill stories already in your 8?

I suggest you do a bit more research before buying anything.

The Reverend 08-04-2010 03:54 PM

i'm with jedi :icon_no2:

buying springs will not turn you into a drifter/racer

RedRX-8 08-04-2010 03:57 PM

well im thinking about doing time attack just beacuse im an aggressive driver and its fun going against other people trying to be the first and get the best time. i mean i drive fast all the time and race people. yeah i dont know im really considering tein coils because my bf has tein and they are really good and if something goes wrong he know what to do with them. lol

fuztupnz 08-04-2010 04:21 PM

By coils do you mean just coil springs, or the full coilover itself?

I personally have tein s-techs, It's stiffer than stock and a mild but even drop. I'm no drifter though. You should really looking into something with custom spring rates and valving as well as stiffer roll bars if you really want to have it be amazing.

Good luck. Do some research and the ask some specific questions to narrow down your options. Start Here then go HERE

I see a lot of reading in your future. I can also see some closed threads and finaly a "I crashted my 8 trying to dorifto" thread.

Jedi54 08-04-2010 04:23 PM

important question: what's your budget for suspension upgrades?
this will help us make recommendations

alnielsen 08-04-2010 04:28 PM

I have the H&R springs on my car. They do lower the car quite a bit. I would say at the edge of being except able. Any lower and I would swap them out. The may be OK with Bilstein shocks. They are high pressure shocks and will raise the car a little.

RedRX-8 08-04-2010 05:48 PM

no im lookin for the whole set up of coils. not just springs.. and yeah thats deff not nice thing to say

fuztupnz 08-05-2010 08:32 AM

Ok, so what's you budget?
You're going to be best served by getting roll bars and adjustable end links while your at it. This will add 300 to 500 easy to the price if buying new. Coilovers range from 800 or so up to 2500 and beyond. The less expensive ones are generally more for appearance than performance but can still perform well. Check the for sale section there are at least 3 different sets of coilovers for sale at the moment.

become a better driver then start worry about the car. the car has got a lot more than you.

fuztupnz 08-05-2010 12:22 PM

+1. should have started there.

Get some HPDE's under your belt, get out and get a lot of autox in. Driver mod will make a lot more of a difference than parts.

c0ldf1ame 08-05-2010 01:35 PM

i race all the time and drift occasionaly and i suggest you either get motons or JRZs i heard they're really good

RedRX-8 08-05-2010 07:45 PM

oviously i do care about my car for one .. my car is never dirty i clean it like twice a week and detail the crap out of my car... and im trying to find a bunch of crap for it so oviously i do car about my car and by the way im going to be changing out the engine soon anyways because i need more hsp and more torque the regular engine in it right now doesnt have much..

Good that you know the difference. You'll need at least 4 more coils if you want to do the ls1 swap. You probably should get those before you get springs.

alz0rz 08-08-2010 03:59 PM

actually for that ls1 swap you will need 8 coils.. just sayin'

alnielsen 08-08-2010 04:30 PM

I think she is talking about coil over shocks.

I'm pretty convinced they don't know what they're talking about. Do you see what I did there.

RedRX-8 08-08-2010 10:42 PM

yeah i saw what you did ... but um actualy the ls1 will fit in my engine compartment but i just think you guyes think its a bad idea beause no one has done it before and i have got the ballz to do something different then most people would ever consider doing to begin with.

mike[piston eater] 08-08-2010 10:46 PM
