"Curse of the Silver: The True Story"
Enough with all this nonsense about the curse of the silver. Technically, for it to be a curse—a real curse—doesn't there need to be a bit of folklore behind it? Some little-known incident that occured once-upon-a-time, way back when (ok, in 2003) that would explain how the color came to be cursed?
No story? No curse. Thank you. |
Well there is....it started with the first Silver RX8 being made in Hiroshima plant. The car was pulled off for inspection, that day 2 employees were found missing. Later that week, the vehicle was given to one of the company execs. On his first drive the engine seized and the car was soon totalled by millions of bike riders. When tearing the engine down, they found the two missing employees heads being used as the rotors in the rotor housing. Until this day, those two headless employees see to it that all Silver RX8 drivers fall victim to...
TEH SILVUH KURS3 |
the way i heard it is their were 3guys and 3 heads were found and thats how the 3 rotary's engine was formed.

Actually, there is something to the silver curse and accident rates - silver cars are proven by highway studies to be harder to see.
"says the driver of a Lightning Yellow RX-8" |
actully the red is involved in more accidents ,because the red blends into the tail lights. but we do have the curse of the silver
Does anyone have any objective data - i.e. statistical proof - indicating that the silver cars, generally, or the sunlight silver RX-8, specifically, is/are involved in more collisions than other colors?
If so, please bring it. (I have a vested interest since my ass rides in a sunlight silver). |
Silver is just so much faster than the others...a lot of newbs can't control the power. :)
I remember seeing some data published - I think it was in the Chicago Tribune - about how the color of the car affects visibility of the car and the two hardest colors to see in all conditions were silver and Titanium. Black is hard to see at night, but stands out in daytime. And red, surprisingly was not a color that was considered "easy to see". Then they took that to accident rates and showed how it bore out.
I'll have to do some fairly major googling to find this. |

Well *I* heard that one of the silvers was somehow cursed such that whoever owned the car had to speak the truth!
If the Silvers are the cursed, then the Lightning Yellow is the Chosen color!
Just buy blue, and you'll be fine.
My wife drives a Nissian Frontier that is bright yellow. F%#in people still pull out in front of her.
Uhhhhhh I know. Maybe its because there are more Sunlight Silvers on the Road.(Including Mine)
Thank you Brothervoodoo. haha. I think the curve of silvers that he started got in people's heads.
I do believe it started with the first fatality in the US being caused by a Silver 8. All downhill from there.
Sorry about your car. Glad I chose Tit. Grey as I was deciding b/w the two.
"No fate but what we make."
Now, that was a stupid line in a cool movie... |
Well according to this study silver is one of the safest colors.
Recent statistics shows that car owners prefer silver color thus the higher quantity of silver involved in accidents.
i think the curse of the silvers is that everyone that gets one sucks at drivin
How the **** is the Velocity Red hard to see?
Oh right...Velocity. |
we all have to agree the best lookin color for the RX8 is the velocity Red, i had all 8 colors and the only one that stands out is the red.
