crummy center console

Anyone know how to fix the center console slider's button. This thing feels pretty cheap and i knew it would only be a matter of time before i broke it...

Warranty... I had mine fixed under warranty when one of the little plastic legs came off that help it slide more smoothly. I would take it in to the dealer.

AHH, hmm mine hasn't broken yet. i should be more careful with it

cool covered

Cool. I did not know that part was coverd.. I will surely give them a call. It's small damage, but its bothering the heck out of me. Nothing worse than having a flawless interior, with a broken button...

Anything that breaks for any reason other than abuse is covered under warranty, so you shouldn't be surprised...

Same thing happened to me; I took it into the dealer and they ordered the new part for me under warranty without a blink of an eye. The interior seems a little fragile in my Rx8...the AC button on the center console cracked on mine as well.

same thing happened to me, but im juss to lazy to take it to the dealer to get it fixed. its covered under warranty and isnt an immdediate problem so yeah... it is kinda cheap but o well

what do you think about just taking the lid off. it is a pos and will
eventually break. i like to leave it open anyway and it just slides around anoying me. has anyone just yanked it off.

I bitchedabout that 2months after I gotmy car b/c minestarted feeling loose and allthey did was took a center console off ofa floor model Rx8 andcalled Mazda andtold them some potentialbuyer broke the one insideof the floor model. I thoughtthat was pretty cool until my "new" center console became loose another 2months later. I gave up

I tried that but it feels funny not having it there to rest my arm on. Someone with lots of creative juices should come up with a replacement. It would be loved and appreciated by all...

Davis RX-8, I believe there was a TSB on the HVAC control knobs. The dealer should replace them for no charge. Don't know where to find it, though.

It's next to impossible for me to get in without resting my elbow on the center piece and apply pressure. I have been retraining myself to use the outer edge of the console instead. I believe the 2005 model should have a more user friendly and sturdier design.
