Crossed 100,000 miles. Anyone else?

People said it could not be done but yes apparently you can drive a rotary engine for over 100,000 miles.
We have had a lot of oil discussion here so I should say that I have used conventional 5w-20 oil changed every 3000 miles. Car runs great, sounds great, feels great. Biggest issue in my 100,000 miles: Coil failed wich caused no spark thus unburned fuel. Fuel got into cat and started fire which produced much smoke. Repair was trivial but I had to be towed. My total repair bills over the 100,000 miles is less than $400.00 (not counting typical consumables like brake pads etc.). The actual repairs far exceeded that number but everything (including my coil failure) was covered by the warranty. Curious about the experience any other high milers have had with their 8s. Congrats on 100k!

Quite a few people actually. Last I checked we had someone over 180,000 miles on a RENESIS.
Rotary engines in the older 1st and 2nd gen's lasted well into the 100,000 miles, so it's not unheard of for a rotary to go that far. You've just been blinded by the RENESIS failures. But grats! And I'm actually curious what your fuel mileage is like now? And has it changed from earlier? |
Congrats on making it to 100k.

I hope I get a new engine at 99k just so I can use my warranty:worship:

The biggest change happened when the dealer installed some factory update to my computer. This was about a year and a half ago. A noticable improvement in fuel economy was immediate. More recently hotter plugs and new wires (warranty fix for 'failed to start' problem) and brand new coils have helped to boost the mileage into the 270 per tankful range. Congrats to all the others who have reached over 100k. Proving that the Renesis is much more fun and is no less reliable than reciprocating engines. That beep I hear while climbing past 9000 RPM is the shift signal right? :yesnod: |
No, that's the orgasm signal. :lol2:

Question is who is over 100k on a single engine. Took me three to get there.
