Creaking front seat

I notice my driver's seat making creaking sounds as I go around corners that are inclined. As if, it has become a bit loose. Has anyone else experienced this, and is it something I can do myself? With new cars, it's not obvious where the bolts and screws are thats all. really appreciate some advice.

My front seat used to creak right behind my head (near the rotary cutout). I fixed it by stuffing some foam rubber around the edges of the rotary thingy.

You can do it by looking at the bolt first. They are at the rail of your seats. Mine has the problem at the front left and rear left (in your case it will be front and rear right for LHD RX-8s). Tighten them really hard. You might want to put a plastic ring (a washer from the garden hose) and super glue it under the bolt and retighten it. It may stop the noise or at least make it sound much less.

Good luck.

heya Taka im an aussie! :D

I checked the bolts, they are fine. It's actually the immediate leather seat that you sit on that is loose. While kneeling outside the car, if I grab it it rattles somewhat. I can see connections from it the fixed part (hardened plastic) but can't really get to it. I mean apart from not seeing it all clearly, wouldnt know what to tighten.

Wow, I just realized (as I read this) that my seat no longer makes any noise. In fact it hasn't made noise in weeks. It was a problem I'd been meaning to look into, but never got around to it. Maybe I'll still look into it. Didn't seem like a problem that should fix itself, so something else must also be wrong (2 wrongs make a right??) :D

Creaky cloth

My seat creaked...I complained to the dealer and they "tightened seat anchor bolts" according to the worksheet. That worked for about a month and then it started creaking again. I live with it.

The seat anchor bolts are not what is causing the creaks. You need to remove the whole seat from the chassis and you'll find there are 5 bolts that requires tightening (4 bolts underneath and 1 bolt on the side). There is one that you must put thread lock before tightening and this bolt is 10mm head size and it is the bolt that is part of making the seat move up or down located as mentioned on the side of the seat.

I did mine over a year ago... and does not creak even if you move the back rest side to side with force.

Give it a shot. Be careful not to scratch anything while removing the seat. IT is kind've heavy and awkward to pull out. Just use some old blankets to avoid scratching any plastic bits in the interior. While you at it... u can suck out all the dust and foodscraps.

^^^ that would drive me nuts as well.

I would go to the extreme of stripping everything and using silicone to fill in the gaps. Hopefully it'll stop the creaks. That's the theory. Feel free to try! Let us know the results.

NB: I used silicone to stop the cabling from rattling inside the doors (front and back) where it connects to the grab handle to lever the locking mechanism. IT freaking works. It is flexible enough not to lock up.

Silicone is your friend!

My seatback was replaced. So far, so good. However, I've only put about 700 miles on it so far...
