couple questions.

So this morning it was about 4 degrees out and i had to check my oil cause im going on a 4 hour drive tonight after work. I check the oi and what do i find on the oil stick?? actual chunks of ice on it stuck to the stick that would not come off. anyone else ever have that problem. Also the car had frost on every window inside the car. not on the ouside but inside it. I have never had this happen before with a car.. any opinions on this? thanks again robert. I will see what you guys have to say about this when i get to ohio tonight. I am ending a 64 hour work week with a 12 hour work day and a 4-6 hour drive right after work starting at 11 tonight. wish me luck.

had it happen

I had the same thing happen to me......all it is is condensation that gets in the dipstick tube.....nothing to worry about. When you finish your drive recheck your oil and it will be gone.

Should be nothing to worry about. Take care on your trip.

The first part Mazda is trying to fix. The second issue, I noticed that it is easy to fog up the inside of this car so the condensation just just froze up. Warm it up crank your heater a bit and you should be good to go.

Mine fogs up too with the least amount of moisture. Sure would hate to be in a parked RX by myself and a cop sees the fogged windows and comes up thinking that somethings going on inside, No officer, I was not.............

I guess you guys must be in a high humidty area. Wow! I have never heard of ice forming on the dip stick. Man that's interesting. So if ice is formed on the dip stick and not the tube would you think when it melted during engine warm up the ice went down inside the tube going to the engine oil? I would get my oil changed every 3,000 miles then. If you see a grayish substance build up when you check the oil when its warmed up that might be sludge and I would get an oil change right away. We have a few months to go yet before warmer temps come our way again. I'm ready for SUMMER!!

Ahh...this has never happened to me, and I live in a high humidity area.

Yea, same condensation and fog up on the inside of my windows. I've stayed in my car a few times and they just cover up quick.

I'm never caught for anything, cuz even though the car windows are fogged. The car isn't shaking. ;)

Some earlier threads described this problem, so I expected it. Sure enough, with all the rain we had last week, my car was fogged up on the inside before I even got in. Took quite a while for it to clear. Now I carry a towel so I can at least start driving. I tried all possible settings (which I can't say I've completely figured out after just two weeks), fresh air, recirc air, A/C on, defroster on, feet on/off, face on/off, etc. Never had this problem in my Honda.
