Coolant light comes on and off

Not sure what it could be other then maybe a bad sensor. If maybe someone may have any suggestions or ideas but last two weeks my coolant light started turning on and then going away after about ten seconds or so. This only happens on the freeway around 80 mph. I checked my coolant level when cooled and it just slight above the full line. Not sure why it keeps comin gone even though I have coolant at the correctl level. Could it be a bad sensor?

How hard would this sensor be to change If I was to do it myself if anyone that has experience in replacing such sensors?

Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas?

Thanks

Why do you ask if it's a joke? This happens to me and a search would show that this is somewhat common but not sure why the response to his question.

Why?? Because a 4 year member with 58 posts can't use the search function.

It took me 5 seconds to search 'coolant' and 'light', and I got 58 hits.

I'm speechless.

Typing 'coolant light' for titles popped up this thread as the first one (after this current thread):

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...=coolant+light

It has all your answers.

As for Specialpowers, a quick answer telling him what to search would have taken up less of your time btw.

Yeah, but Specialpowers was badder.

CTrx8's link should take care of you. If you want more, your post generated an automatic search, with some links at the bottom of this thread.

IMHO, Mazda put a coolant level sensor on this car because they ran out of useful features to add. If mine goes, I'm just going to pull the plug.

I didn't mean to be rude. I just think that constantly repeated questions make the site much more time consuming and tedious to navigate.

If I posted that question, I'd expect to get flamed.

The problem is that it's usually someone different each time. There's an old joke about a Marine DI who's been at it 20 years, and yells at his latest batch of trainees "Don't you ever learn?"

Didn't help him much with the next batch, either.

Yeah, but does a former DI make a good Therapist?

SP.............welcome to hell! You gonna see this and others....over and over and over again.
That's why we tend to get a little crabby and chase Noobs away sometimes. We don't mean to do so, but it does get rather tiresome.

Posting>>SEARCH<<< makes the site much more time consuming and tedious

You have to remember. Those that have taken History 101 and passed, then graduated years later should not shout "search" to those new students currently taking History 101.

So you are like that one who took History 101 and has moved on. Along comes a newbie and asks a question about History 101. Why not keep your chones on?

Also it is not how long one has been a member but how often logs on the site.

I took mine to the dealer and was told it would cost me over a thousand dollars to fix. Something about almost always breaking the part where the sensor/tank connects to the radiator. So the radiator would have to be replaced. Was told they could fix it but would cost me a lot less just to keep an eye on the water level in the tank

That's pretty cool coming back two years later to chew out everyone who didn't help. Nobody else seems to have noticed that this was your thread in the first place.

So what are you driving now? Not a Pinto, I hope!
