well cars going into shop weds, and since car is getting painted (from fucking salt truck) im putting a lil cash into it to get whole car resprayed and 2 toned,

had my G/f photoshop me some ideas and i think this is what im going to do.

now the black will have a slight red flake in it, also it is going to have the same perl over the black as the red does.

Meh ... I dunno
I've seen worse.

I might actually like this

Chad D. 02-20-2012 07:43 AM

...something about the line in the hood...I'm not sure...looks different with the wide S2 front...

line on the hood is driving me nuts, if i do whole hood it goes off body line and at fender it is really weird and looks bad there so that line is really the only line i can follow.

my other idea was to stop it at the back glass body line and not do the trunk but i think whole top is better

olddragger 02-20-2012 08:47 AM

if you want a different color --go with WWP--- you can only get that color of R3 in Canada and its sweet.

RIWWP 02-20-2012 09:08 AM

Yeah, sorry. It looks better with the normal OEM paint. Other two tones might work, but the inherent problem with most two tones is that it interferes with the natural lines of the car. Any car. Some cars don't have lines to appreciate or even see, other cars have lines that this would compliment, and with either it could be a neutral impact or a positive one. The 8s doesn't have enough straight lines for this to compliment at all.

In the end, it's your car, your decision, but you asked for opinions. :)

If you are really aiming for a difference visual with 2 or more paint colors, might I recommend pulling from the Grand Am GT RX-8s for inspiration? I know these colors are all over the place, and some of them are "helped" by the logos, but it's a place to start with in your mind :)

(This one is actually a blend of the #69 and #70 paint styles, since the 69 moved to another team)

+1, his was one of the first 8's I saw on this site and have liked that look since.

I've always thought that twotone style looked good :dunno:.

Maybe try extending the black just below the headlights on that curvature line, then up behind the headlights along the top of the front fender to where they sharpen off at that sidemarker.

This would be worth a render. /\

monchie 02-22-2012 10:29 PM

I don't know...i just don't.

Just leave it be man, please don't ruin what will some day be a unique sought out version of the RX-8.

it is going to be painted black on top of red so will not be hard or expensive to have undone (at least for me)

bse50 02-23-2012 05:17 AM

It doesn't matter, a resprayed car already sees its value sink. That kind of paint job will make matters even worse.
That's from an economical\collector\car enthusiast point of view, if you like it then who cares.

juikster 02-23-2012 05:30 AM

hey man just do it, make it happen. if you and your g/f came up with this design and you both like the concept blend then thats all that matters.

just my 2 cents.:beer05:

Bladecutter 02-23-2012 08:26 AM

As long as he doesn't do this to it:

http://www.mazdaoflakewood.com/New/2...leDetails.aspx

He should be okay.

Notice, that this is a Mazda Dealer selling this RX-8 as a NEW CAR.

BC.

I do like the way your 8 turned out. It is pretty cool. Nice choices.

Highspeed 02-23-2012 10:31 AM

I love my 2 tone...everyone has their own taste and opinion...and you are the one that makes the payments. Make it your own. Some people like my paint job and some dont. But all that matters is that I like it. I think it looks good on the red in your photoshop.

Are-Ex-Eight 02-24-2012 10:55 PM

The R3 is hardly a collectors item. They are still at dealerships lol.

Do whatever you like. It's your car. Get it sprayed in stealth paint. Carbon Fiber style R3.
