Compliment

"The RX8 is a good car. It's just not quite as focused on the "sports" side of the house as the Elise. It's a 2+2 and has those funky suicide doors for the rear. I LOVE the engine and I really wish that was the engine that Lotus picked for the Elise. I kept red lining the damn thing cause the engine is way too smooth. The chassis is tight, the one I drove felt very strong.

If you've never driven a rotary engine to try a spin in a RX7/RX8. Wow. It's worth it."

i got this off of http://www.elisetalk.com its good to know poeple with a higher end car still respect the rx.

Why would you think that people with a higher end car wouldn't respect the 8?

I'll take a shot at answering that. Because many (most?) "owners" of high-end cars are marque snobs. They only know cars by the brand and have little knowledge of, or appreciation for, cars in general. They drive a BMW or Porsche because of the "status" of driving an expensive car that is generally viewed as a symbol of success and wealth. Since an RX-8 is nearly unknown by the general populace, there is no status associated with it and, therefore, of little interest to the marque snobs.

I do think it is a compliment for an elise driver to speak so nicely of the RX8, thye bought the elise for what it is a sports car. I would like to think these buyers know what a nice handling and driving car is. It is a good compliment.

the entire thread you are referring to the Elise owners are respectful. This is especially remarkable considering the thread starter was trying to incite a flame war saying his RX-8 would beat an Elise in a race (which we all know is untrue...our car weight difference puts us behind).
