Common faults / Easy performance upgrades

Hi,

Im looking at buying a 2007 rx8 tomorrow. Is there any common faults with this car i should be looking out for and general advice as this is my first rotory engine. Also what is the easyist way to get some more BHP out of the car??

Thanks in advance.

Start reading up:

Considering none of those have been updated in 3 years, quite a few in 5+, try this thread too:

Doesn't mean that those FAQ are invalid though. Reading is good.

Know what you are getting into before you buy. Eyes wide open.

You just wanted to shamelessly plug your thread ;)
JK... its a good read too!

It's more that I got tired of cutting and pasting the same answers, so put them all together and made a thread out of it that I could link. :)

I think it'll be good to add that thread to the FAQ section.

fantastic thanks

I think once that thread has a few pages it will be a disorganized disaster. You'll have the same question asked 5 times in the same thread. Maybe on the first post link to the questions so people can just look over the list and not have to read all the pages (because they likely wont and will ask the same Qs).

I have no intention of requesting or expecting people to read the thread entirely each time :)

History has already proven it won't happen. As generally relevant stuff pops up and needs to get added to the first several posts, I will do so. I honestly don't car eif they keep asking the same questions over and over in the thread, it just tells me that I need to add it to the beginning.

The easiest way to get more power is to turbo the car. Though it isn't cheap. But considering you only specified ease, I assume cost is of no regard.

Renesis you are silly ... it is "easy" to drop a turbo in it. Spend 4000 bucks, have a shop do it, and poof, you magically have a turbo in your 8. :bootyshak lol :)

So of course, you can put "easy" and "turbo" in the same sentence , but make sure "to maintain" isn't in between them haha :suspect:

This is true, but with emissions tightning up the way it is; there's a good chance Rotaries will become more scarce which MAY make our cars worth something someday.

For a guy like me who plans to keep this thing forever, it makes me :mdrmed:

Although Id never sell it :suspect:

You don't need more hourse power.

You need to learn how to drive what you have......

He didn't say anything about maintenance, cost or reliability. Dropping a turbo or procharger in would set you back like 8k and some tuning, but it is the easiest way to add power. Is it better to fiddle with random bolt-on's and barely notice any gains?
