All RX8s in all colors are outstanding, but my lowly opinion on the colors would go:

black - mutes the lines of the car too much.

green - an overdone color on cars in the 90's so now I can't look at it without thinking I'm looking at a dodge stealth..etc etc

titanium - a nice color, but have you noticed that it seems like 75% + of the peeps here have that color? I'm thinking it's going to be the "there must've been a sale on that color at wal-mart..." car.

silver - very slick color - very grown up...only problem is the chrome + silver + tail light inner details don't stand out so sharply against the silver color...

yellow -- yellow? are you a chick? ;) (just kidding all you yellow peeps!!)

red - seems too stock of a color...plus I have red hair - and I would clash to the point of distraction.

blue - it's the slickest - the lines are sharp, the chrome/silver details stand out nicely and it's "different" but not to the point of being an eye sore...only negative is that it's a younger color...finace told me I could get the blue one but at the risk of people thinking I was in high school

my vote - I'd like to be 18 chasing skirt again! -- blue all the way

I'm for silver or blue. Silver's better in my opinion

Just thought I'd throw this in -- I never ever planned to buy a red sports-car til I saw the gold-mica in the Velocity Red. If you haven't seen it in person in the sunlight, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Literatii 11-23-2003 09:48 PM

brothervoodoo, I have the exact same appearance package -- but in Red. I think it's a great look.

MEGAREDS 11-23-2003 10:50 PM

1. Yellow. Can't turn my head away, but friends wouldn't let me pull the trigger. I would have dropped my friends if Mazda had offered the yellow interior trim in the U.S.
2. Titanium. Classy color on a cool car; never needs to be washed. Sometimes wish I'd had other friends, though.
3. Silver. Trying to be Titanium. Afraid the Brittany video will take off; don't want to drive Britney's car.
4. Red, beautiful, but everybody's seen red. EVERYBODY.
5. Black. Nice when clean - never clean.
6. Green. Went through my Green phase years ago. Can't be objective.
7. Blue. Not particularly impressed (sorry).

Everyone has a strong opinion here... which is terrific. They've done a nice job spreading it around. I must say - they all look good.

Have to go with the Titanium. No one around here has the green, but after seeing Elara's photos I was almost swayed. I've owned two red cars in the past, and I can't deny that Mazda did an incredible job with the flecks in this one; but I'm beyond the law-enforcement attention that goes with the red. I've wanted a nearly-charcoal colored sports car for a looooong time, so I'm afraid that TG is my choice.

Bought it Silver Metallic

I finally bought my GT RX-8. I choose silver, thanks for those beautiful pictures from brothervoodoo, that influenced my decision.

Can wait to get next week since I need to wait for my winter tires to arrive.

Thanks everyone.

Simon.

My opinion was: Any color is good as long as it is red :-) But! When I saw titanium (even only on pictures) it really got me!
So: Any red will do as long it's Titanium!

I was at the dealership today (first oil change), and they have an 8 in that Nordic Green.

Woah.. I liked black so far best, but this green,.. looks almost as good as my previous car.. which was chameleon blue-green, changing the color from blue to green with the angle of the light.

If I had seen that green on the day of purchase (they didn't have it then), I had taken it over black.

Black gets my vote. The color does somewhat mute the lines when dirty - and I never let my car stay dirty. When clean, there is nothing like a black RX8. It's quiet, refined, classy, stealthful and mysterious. I love it!

Vrimmick 12-02-2003 08:49 PM

I bought silver but now I think I like red better

zimmzimm 12-04-2003 05:23 PM

I got a 'Winning Blue', and it is (in my opinion) the best of the avilable bunch. I think the red is tooooooo much and is an invitation to your local cop to pull you over. Yellow is also over the top for me. If they offered the darker blue though that was used in the X-Men II movie, it would have been the dream color for me. Unfortunately that color (and the grill) were changed only for the film. According to my Mazda dealer there are no plans to come out with that color.

Must be my age. Wasn't that long ago I was driving bright red or blue Corvettes. But when I was shopping for a four seater "sports car" and decided on the RX-8, I really wanted something that showed class versus flash, and the Nordic Green really hits the mark. It doesn't scream "look at me" as the yellow, red, and blue colors do. But everywhere I go, whether it be the car wash, store, or work, people comment about the color and how rich the car looks. And as the light changes, so does the color. Sometimes it has a hint of dark blue, other times it looks metallic black. And in the bright sunlight, the mica flecks really bring out the lines. IMHO, the lighter colors almost make the car look slightly cheaper (no offense meant, I still like reds and blues). All of this surprised me as I have never been a fan of green cars, but this particular Mazda color is quite unique and thought it was quite distinctive amongst the row of other RX-8s that were blue, yellow, red, silver, and titanium. And as a few people have pointed out, there are a ton of silver and titanium colored cars out on the road, so in some ways the Nordic Green (and Yellow) are even more distinctive. Anyway, just my observation.

Titanium at around dusk, with the sun setting can't be beat, it turns from gray to a purplish blue, girls dig it it. And at night its blueish gray, Can't beat it!

I would have to agree 100%

Having been caught in one off the worst tropical rain storms that i have ever incountered in my 32 years of driving on a main highway doing over 110km , i know which is by far the safest colour as most colours including white were not as visible as my yellow , it was pissing down cats and dogs , and overcast hazy conditions , real trecheraus conditions .

silver , titanium could not be seen clearly black or green would have been invisible to the eye red blue, white ,were relatively better but the only real safe colour was YELLOW .

By the way my eyes are excellent , i belong to a pistol club and get my eyes tested once a year.

Isn't that why you use your lights in the rain? My experience is that no matter what color a car is, if it's really raining, you can't see crap until it's on top of you if it doesn't have lights on.

Lock & Load 12-05-2003 07:37 PM

Elara

HAD my head lights on and this was during day believe it the lights did not make a great difference , if anything they seemed to reflected back at you similar as if in a fog .
Had it been at night it would have been disastrous , have you ever driven thru a tropical storm ? its not very pleasant.

Elara 12-05-2003 08:38 PM

No, but I have driven through a hurricane, and I really didn't see any visibility difference between car colors. Just whether they had their lights on or not. But then, that is just me :)
