Clutch pedal sticking

Searched the forums and couldn't find any threads pertaining to my issue. Last week I went to push the clutch as usual before startup and noticed it felt a little too smooth, it was very soft and sprang back up quicker then normal. After starting the 8 this problem seemed to disappear and I drove it and all seemed fine. Now today I go to start the car (this is the first time i would be starting it since that day) and the pedal was acting very funny. It drops very quickly, hits the clutch point and delivers some resistance as expected, then goes to the floor. On the way back up the pedal is getting stuck right around the clutch point, freezing there for a moment or two, then flicking back to its resting position. I Tried lubricating the pedal assembly and spring with white lithium grease and it was no use. Not sure if this is a clutch issue or pedal issue........any and all suggestions appreciated :)

i would try to bleed the clutch there is a bleeder on the slave cylinder. you could have a bad master/slave cylinder letting air into the system

Thank you, I will try that. I got my dad to go test the pedal and he said it felt fine so i went out to test it and it was completely normal. Took it out for a drive, still normal so i dont know if this was fluke or an intermittent problem.

it's a slow leak in your master and/or slave cylinder. Eventually it'll need to be replaced.

Sh*t, Thank you!

Inspect the pedal anyway. I had similar issues when my bracket failed. The clutch felt light because it wasn't engaging fully. It would also only come back up "half way" until I pulled it with my toe. Eventually it snapped off.

What points exactly should i inspect on the pedal?? I dont want to miss any vital welds

There's some pictures floating around with the exact points where the welds break but I'll try to describe it anyway.

In the center of the bracket is a metal piece that holds the actual pedal and spring to the base plate with a couple of spot welds. The spot welds will break and this entire piece will lift off of the pedal on one side.

Okay ill check it out tonight, thank you 👍

here is mine broke right at the spot weld. best way i found personally is go down there and push the clutch with your hand and see if the metal flexes the only thing that should move is the plungerhttps://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...5ee9bd9923.jpg
