fight? where is the problem. this thread goes on and obviously every one is interested on the subject. the forum we have here is to discuss stock/modified, etc.

the only thing crh should have put it was:" yes its a normal noise that is built in many these new trannys. even new. but these have some design flaws if you are planning for it to handle over 325hp. " being he has this concern in how long and durable these trannys are for daily use, even heavy duty street/weekend track.
WHICH, he clarified.

not answering the simple question with a simple answer first, then adding some nice info was the only thing that threw us off i believe.

nonetheless, all is clarified. and i'd also like to include that being these trans are TRIPLED synchroed 1-4 gears, its hella smooth, but be aware to NOT even grind the gear once. many mazda's shot peen or strengthen their gears factory wise...but i guess they assume 8 owners will be that much more mature and experienced in enjoying the more "refined" car and choose to ultra smooth out the tranny with its fancy triple cone synchs.

to say the truth, it is overkill, and i would NOT clutchless shift these trans. even in light, slow speed traffic.

sorry to thread jack from the op, but would crh give some light on ^^those topics?

(an well informed member, makes a great owner, and a wise modifier. agreed?)
isn't that why we are here on a forum to begin with? if we are not worried at all, there would be no forum. look in all/any thread, it all be based on a pro/con situation approach. product knowledge and etc.

so be nice ppl. crh has invested his time and we can all use different perspective.

This doesnt seem to be happening elsewhere except the USA. maybe its due to the emissions regulation that the oil injection was reduced for USA bound cars. not 100% sure on this.

5w20 ftl!
using 10w30, it runs fine. oil temps don't seem as high.
sorry for being off topic

What do you guys make of this?

-Driving 10 -20 mph in first
-Let off accelerator
-RPMs decrease to about 1000 - 1300
-Engage Clutch (while decelerating)
--Sound: Clack, Clack, Clack (can also feel it in the shifter) the sound is slightly more dull than a clack.

This does not happen during acceleration and gear change. (if it does - i don't notice it)

I tried this same tactic in second gear, decreasing rpm's to 1200 + engaging clutch, with no noticeable sound(dull clack).

-----------------------------
I went to the dealership today to discuss it with the mechanic.

I am still not satisfied with his reasoning. He tell me if the engine is under load at a low rpm/speed when you engage the clutch you may hear a "tunk" sound as the driveline release the load (or comes under load). I believe this is the answer to some sounds but not the one I am having.

I don't think that would explain a dull clacking (almost always three) heard from outside the car, as well as felt in the shift knob & clutch pedal.

Through the shift knob it feels like something slightly catches, lets go, and catchs again. (metallic feeling - light and sharp) Making a dull clack.
Outside - I've been told it sounds like i'm changing from one gear to the next (even though i don't move the shifter while duplicating the problem)
--- With the car in park and off - the sound is similar to moving the shifter from 1 -2-3-4-5-6 (except it sounds like you shift out of first, in to first, then out again super quick)

Hi guys just a bump. Purchased my 04 a couple days ago and seem to have the same problem. Any updates?
