Clear Corners come tomorrow

I'm so excited, lol it will probably take me like 3 hours to do them (i'm not very mechanically inclined), and I know I won't be able to drive the car (predicted 7 - 12 inches of snow predicted) but im still excited anyway, and will post pictures when im done

gratz on the clear corners...

it won't take you long, don't worry

first one will be the hardest but just look at the clear corner and you'll see how the stock one is held in, follow the DIY on the boards and you're golden.

I would recommend http://www.stealthauto.com/Products/...SBCA-0194.aspx , if you haven't already purchased them. The amber stock bulb just looks funky in a clear corner.

Not mechanically inclined either and did them in 10 minutes! Such a small mod but big results.

Just don't be disappointed when you notice that the contour is different from the amber corners. They had to grow on me. Took me a while but I left them on.

i love my clear corners, i am not very mechanical either and i did it pretty fast. However, to get the little reflective part out inside took me a while, not only this but i did it in my garage and it was about 107 degrees

Took me a bit too, I didn't realized they were a little different when I ordered them. Completely used to it now. Overall, I think the clears look a lot better than the stock amber lenses.

And don't worry, even for the non inclined, it's an easy task.

You win... A PRIZE!!

Can you explain this? I'm thinking about getting clear corners, but I don't know what you mean? Maybe a pic reference?

RojoOcho 01-14-2008 04:58 PM

I like my amber ones actually.

Mugatu 01-14-2008 05:38 PM

thanks for the update. what's for dinner?

RotaryP7 01-14-2008 05:46 PM

I bought my clear corners in summer 2007. I never did put them in because I never did buy the stealth bulbs.. They're still in my closet somewhere waiting.. For the day..

The clear corners stick out more than the stock one's do, The stock corners are flush with the bumper, and are smooth if you run your hand across them, The clear corners are raised a bit, making them bulge out a bit more, Personally i think it looks better with the bulge. Here is a pic, you can see how the stock corner is flush, while the clear corner sticks out.

Hope this helps.

The amber ones here in the U.S. fit flush with the body. The clears ( I have a pair myself from japan mazda), bulge out a bit. I actually like the bulge. Gives it a bit more personality me thinks.

EDIT: Crap I was beaten to it. And he even put up pictures!!!

TopGear8 01-14-2008 06:10 PM

^yep, i win! :)

Haven't decided yet actually... :Peace:

raizen82 01-14-2008 06:58 PM

i like my amber corners but that's because i have the winning blue. i agree with someone here that said the amber corner complements and probably looks good only with the WB color.

btw, my audiolink ipod connector just came in. yay!

nycgps 01-14-2008 07:36 PM

lemme tell you now.

All you need is da Phillip screw driver.

no more than 30 minutes for 1st timer. trust me

Lebren 01-14-2008 07:50 PM

Clear Corners and strakes, the two mods I am hesitant to do. I agree with the Winning Blue, I like the orange with Arctic Green as well. Clears look good on silver white, red, gray IMHO.

TopGear8 01-14-2008 07:53 PM

^Get the clears, Don't get the strakes. You will be happy.

30min job at the most. No need to remove the front bumper. Just 2 small plastic screw things that hold the splash gard to the front bumper, pull the back splash gard back and theres your bolt where the front bumper and fender meet just below the OEM corner. The bolt is facing the ground. Pull out the OEM unplug the light and put in the clear corners. 2nd side and your good :)

Learjet_Pilot 01-15-2008 01:44 AM

Yeah, I think my stock ambers on the Phantom Blue are awesome enough.

A needle nosed plier will do wonders in getting it out. Also a can of compressed air to blow out the small silvery particles from the reflector that come off from all the bending and twisting to get it out. Try to bend the reflector into a shape that will make it easier to come out the hole.

I used amber bulbs underneath to try to retain some adherence to California law--which requires amber bulbs. They show up at night and you can see that they are amber underneath in the day. I like the way they look.

DOMINION 01-15-2008 02:00 AM

I dont think it will make a diff if you dont need the extra light then dont do it. Its just a PITA lol

zerobio 01-15-2008 02:17 PM

I left my darn reflectors in ... forgot about those. Oh well, looks just fine as is.

I actually think clear would look excellent on green and blue, even better than amber, but it is a personal choice of course.

I am completely used to the way my clears stick out a bit .. I like it.
